thanks for posting this classic blues, probably my favorite by rice miller, nats harp fills were very strong I just envy the hell out of adam that he had a mentor of nats caliber
Thanks, Ted! I have that album, but I haven't listened to that cut in years. Nat swings like a mofo, and his tone always cuts right through. The groove, too, is a NYC groove. The drummer rushes a little, at points. They don't do that in Chicago, Austin, or LA, or at least not in the same way. A familiar sound, and I miss it.
And yes, I feel extremely fortunate to have known and studied with Nat.
all these 40+ years being an avid blues fan how come I never heard this awesome player-this forum has introduced me to nat riddles, jerry mccain and madcat ruth-all incredible harp players that was not aware of-thanks modern blues harmonica
Interesting fact about that a little rushing NYC groove, Adam! Those are the kind of things I (and I guess a bunch of other listeners) only notice when pointed to. So thank you also for that sort of information!
AMAZING! seven people are all in agreement. you don't see that often around here. ---------- MP hibachi cook for the yakuza doctor of semiotics superhero emeritus
