If you can't figure out why I've done this, simply reread the threads.

Sometimes the teacher needs to rap a yard-long wooden ruler on the chalk board. This is apparently one of those days.

When starting future threads, please try to keep to the positive.

One more thing, addressed specifically to TNFrank and Buddha: one of you is a short-timer and one of you is a long-timer. If either of you attempts to continue your feud in another thread on this forum--at least for the next few days--I will immediately ban the offender from this forum. If you need to continue it, take it somewhere else.

My thanks for GermanHarpist and Narcoran for their service to this forum.

I fully understand why you did what you did Adam. Things were totally getting out of hand and needed to be resolved. I sincerely hope that we don't have a Melt Down like that again, at least any time soon. Now, back to talking about harps and music.

Finally! Thanks Adam....

This type of crap is not what a newbie comes here for. Albeit sometimes entertaining... ;-)

the amazing part is, most folks want to have the thread end but will continue to chime-in instead of letting it die a natural death.
i'm glad i bought shares of masterlock!!

frank- if you want, i will send you a special 20. slightly used so you will need to give it a bath. it will give you another harp, one that was probably recommended in one of the posts, to use as a comparison.
you will need to give me an address.

btw- the steelers are 2-0 without a real quarterback!!

Heck yah eharp, I can always use another harp. Not going to ask what key since it's a free harp but it wouldn't happen to be Bb, would it? Anyway, doesn't matter, I appreciate the offer. Shoot me an e-mail and I can get you my address. Thanks.

Oh man, that's tempting Kyzer. The Hot Metals are slowly going to my grandson(same one I gave the Blues Band to) as I replace the keys with better harps but man, only one key. Having only one key is what's kept me from playing all these years. The Golden Melody is an awesome harp but in C is just didn't fit with anything that I tried to play with. My Big River A is better, especially for Rock and the el cheapo G and D work good too.
I know there's a way you can play a lot more keys then the Blow/Draw from a harp, something to do with position or something but I'm not sure what or how.
You're killin' me Kyzer, killin' me. What key are we talking about and how long is this totally unbelievable offer available for?

Well ....here I was feeling bad for Frank. I thought he didn't have money but now I understand that he just has lots of other hobbies and the harmonica is just not that important (guitar, bow, truck come first).

Sold the guitar to buy parts for the truck, sold the bow to buy harps, traded an '88 Mustang LX 5.0 for the truck because I NEED a truck. We don't have trash pick up round here, have to haul it to the dump ourselves. Still, being a V8 S10 Pick Up you can get the trash to the dump REAL FAST. LOL. I'd just like to learn some harp between guitars. That way when I can get another guitar I can dress up as Bob Dylan for Halloween, LOL.

I'm really at odds, because Ive only been playing two years, and i wonder if thats enough time to give anyone advice at all, but, Here's my thing. If youre 8 days in to playing the harp, you simply dont need all the keys. it wont do you any good to have them all if you dont know what to do with them. making noises in the right key can sound like shit too. per the route youve chosen, youre actually spending more money not even knowing whether or not you even want to play this thing. that just seems silly to me. rationalize this one out for me. imagine im the wife. would i rather you spend the 125 on 7 harps or 35 on a good'n? 6 months from now either youve given up or youve gotten better, either way youre only 35 in for the whole shebang right? money saved? wifey loves...
i have two Bb Manji's due to poor communication with family/friends over the holidays...theyre both excellent harmonicas. both of which i worked on myself...and you know what? I RARELY PLAY THEM because nothing i ever jam to is in F. BUT, it was the second key, (after C) that i bought and i played the shit out of it for 4-6 months. im not the best harp player here, but im no slouch. I bought it SPECIFICALLY to learn gussow's .024 on youtube.

Chris Michalek will never be known for his passionate emblazonment of words to warm your heart, but he does have a sweet sound on the harp and enough harp knowledge to back up a whole lot of what he says.

my email addy is armarsh75@yahoo.com, if you want it, pay me to ship it (Im in TN too) and it's yours. there is a catch though (not an ultimatum, but rather a faith based leap) two things:
1. Take the one hour free lesson Buddha offered you. do it before he recants, I've been here forever and have even bought some items from him and havent rec'd such an offer. if you wanna learn harp, he's one of the ones you simply cannot turn down. he'll even do it over the phone.
2. find a ditty, maybe one of Adam's that he explains in his free videos (gussow .024 for me {its in Bb}, could be whatever for you) or perhaps one of his you can purchase from this site, and do it, diligently, until you have it down 100%. this will do two things for you. give you a earnest sense of accomplishment, and teach you and entire song you can play from start to finish.

and that's it...

you have a computer, a vid cam, and access to youtube, start a channel and post one vid a week for two months dong the same tune. you dont have to share it with anyone, but watch what happens before your eyes. itll make you want to stick with it, i promise.

lastly, if it reeeeeealy aint your cup of tea after all? you can send it back to me, i can give her a good bath and do the same thing to someone else who might wanna give it an honest go, or you can decide to do that yourself.

we here at MBH just wanna help after all.

The fact that a diatonic harp is only in one key put me off buying one for 25 years. If only I'd known someone who could have helped me! Best thing you can do is give someone a harp, maybe as a stocking-filler at Christmas, so they don't have to make any decisions. I used to try to play my dad's chromatic in the 60s, but he never taught me how, and even he never thought to buy me a diatonic for Christmas. They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
