I've been using a Green Bullet for several years now and I enjoy it a lot. After purchasing this mic I had a vintage Cr Black Label installed. Sound Great. However, due to the incessant quest for down I have ordered a JT30 from some one out west. The mic is on its way and is loaded with a MC101 element. My question is: Should I consider ordering a MC151 element????? Will the difference be appreciable???? Thanks All

it is doubtful the 101 element works.

i'd bet against it.

when they do work, and work good, they are unbeatable.

it's actually a good idea to get a 151 as long as it is new old stock.

if the 101 works, you have a spare element. if not, only two wires to solder in the 151.

@ black,..Say your considering ordering a MC151 element,. check out the JT-30 store www.jt30.com/jt30page/eacstore.html
Erica say: This is the original Astatic MC-151 element. I am selling a small number of them now. These are authentic MC-151 made by Astatic
Good luck

If the 101 element works then I'd use it till it dies or becomes to weak to be useful. If it doesn't work then I'd put a good CM element in it instead. Much more reliable than an MC151 crystal element and probably cheaper too. If however you insist on using a crystal element then I'd email Greg Heumann at www.blowsmeaway.com, he usually has quite a few elements for sale.

The difference between an MC-151 and an MC-101 is that the MC-151 has a midrange presence rise and the MC-101 doesn't have that (or as it is described in a number of older Astatic catologs, substantially flat) and the ceramic equivalents are MC-127 (which has a midrange presence rise) and MC-126 (which doesn't have that).

In some amps, the MC-101 or MC-126 may be a better option not having the idrange presence rise but if you're playing thru some classic Fender amps, the ones with the midrange presence rise will make more sense.
