Ok, I've been running all over the net trying to find a solution to a problem. I use Google Chrome as my web browser, and despite all the code fixes I've tried people's audio files keep auto-playing in posts. That's fine when there is 1 file, but after that it gets to be a mess. So, finally, I found a solution involving a new browser embeded player. It works for me! I'm worried though that it may not play in other browsers. Let me know if it works for you if you are using another browser.

Thanks,
Nate

Here's the code I used.

<audio src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5193776/Song%20Samples/When%20the%20Saints%20Go%20Marching%20In.mp3" controls autobuffer></audio>

And here is the link to the site that I found the answer on, because after spending most of the day looking for a possible solution they were the first site that didn't have the same, doesn't work solution as everyone else.

Not working here, Mac Safari 5.0.1, but I can see the player. It just says Loading and doesn't do anything else.

Is that file in your public folder on dropbox? might be the problem?

Looks like Firefox only supports wav or ogg files with the <audio> tag.

IE9 should support html5. What version are you using Nate?

Ah as a non-Microsoft user I didn't realise IE9 was still in development (Beta out in Sep).

IE8 does not seem to support <audio>, looks like IE users will have to wait for 9 to be finalised.

That's frustrating. I thought I'd found a solution. It works beautifully in Chrome, but nothing in IE. I guess I'll just have to wait until Chrome fixes the autoplay issue or the other browsers implement full
