I was raised by teachers and two of my grandparents where teachers, and I had some inclinations in that direction but the siren song of laziness stole my dream. Three cheers for teachers though. If you're one of the good ones you are grossly underpaid for what you do. :)

You can get a diploma in harmonica? Cool! Unfortunately, here in the states, that and a dollar fifty would get you a ride on the streetcar. ----------

I teach harmonica now. I used to teach antiques appreciation for continuing adult education at a small community college. Funny thing was, all of my "students" there were older than myself.

I teach cognitively delayed high school students (today was my first day back to work). I have created a home made dog biscuit/horse treat/bird treat business that also caters to people as well with scratch made NJ pizzas, bagels, cookies, lunches, and a coffee/smoothie cafe. I currently occupy a home ec room but next year will move into a complete commercial kitchen. My students are a meaningful part of our community. They sell our products in 7 stores, on campus to staff and students, and mail order. We take in about 25k a year. They shop a couple times a week, bank, etc. they are learning the skills to be as independent as possible as adults. I love working with these guys. they teach me more about love, forgiveness, trust, laughter, and truth, than any "normal" person. In an ideal world these guys would be the buddhas we would travel to for increasing our love channel. It makes music seem pretty trivial. Walter
here they are at work on Max's T Biscuits for dogs:

here is one of our many dances

making ginger bread houses at christmas. Santa comes with lots of presents, about $100 worth per kid. Profits well spent!

You can get a BM degree from the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University with harmonica as your performing instrument In the Jazz Studies Program. Yeah that and two bucks gets me on the trolley. Tokens are cheaper. ----------

I have a Master's in Ed and am finishing a Specialist's in Ed Leadership this spring (done with classes and working on intern hours).
I worked as a 6th and 5th grade teacher...taught summer reading K-6...currently I work as a teacher on special assignment as the elementary math coach and a continuous improvement coach at two buildings.
That will run through this year and then I can go back to the classroom. ---------- Mike

same to you sudsy and Littoral! We had open house tonight and I sat around my classroom playing my guitar and harp. I recruited a few young guitar players and a beginning harp player to help in my classroom. I keep a couple guitars in my room so these kind of kids can take them outside for lunch and play to their friends. The ones that come to me are not intersted in the school band stuff and are generally self taught with no music theory. That is right up my alley.
