As you guys all know, yesterday was Friday the 13th. Now normally for me it is just a Normal Day, but not anymore. You see I went to a club here in New Orlean Named 61 Blues Hwy, (Yes it is on Hwy 61) to play with a couple of friends, who both blow harp and play guitar. I normally hook up one of my mics to the PA, so yesterday I hooked up my new 545 Bulletized Ultimate. Strangely, I could not get it to work. We checked all the settings on the PA, but still not sound. So we put the mic in the channel that had the guitar in it, and again not a sound. I was thinking that I broke my 545, so I went and got my JT30, and a different cord. Again the same thing. How Strange. So I played through the vocal mic.

After the gig, we went to Frenchman Street to see Smoky Greenwell, because he wanted to check out the 545, and we plugged it into his mixer, and again no sound. I know, insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Anyway, I am seriously depressed about my 545.

This morning I get up and plug my 545 into my Kalamazoo 1, and it works perfectly. The same for my JT30. I plugged them both into my PA, and again they worked perfectly. Same cords same everything.

Unless someone can explain this to me, I now believe in New Orleans Voodoo.

Make sure PA is plugged in before powering it on

Well, if it wasn't plugged in, then it would really be Voodoo, because the vocals and guitars worked.

I got some ice cream out today, and set it on the stove. (The stove wasn't on, just a convenient place to fix a bowl.) Just as I did, the ice cream scoop (which I hadn't touched since yesterday) fell off the top of the dish rack and landed right on the counter like it knew I needed it. I suppose if any item in my house is going to act helpfully haunted, I'd want it to be the ice cream scoop, unless of course it's trying to kill me with cholesterol.

I bought a John the Conquerer Root, a mojo bag, and a rubber chicken years ago on a trip to New Orleans years ago and I put it in my harp bag. Been there ever since. The first thing that happened was that I was invited up on stage out of the blue at one of the Bourbon Street Clubs to play, and this real cute blonde asked if she could hang with me for the rest of the day. Seems she was being harrassed and needed some company Problem was, as it turned out, I knew her fiance. Small world. I still have that stuff in my Harp Bag. Scared to remove it.
