1. If you don't know any facts, shut up.
2. If you know facts, and they're not for public consumption, shut up.
3. If you're not able to verify something you've heard, don't repeat it.
4. When rumors spin out of control, it's the rumor-mongerers that are to blame, and no one else. See 1, 2, and 3.
5. Think before you post.

Good points, John. Also, I think it needs to be made clear that pretty much everyone, if not every single member of this forum, has nothing but the best wishes for the subject of your post. We have or at least feel a connection with him through his music and his selfless sharing over the years and committment to promoting the harmonica, with some having a more personal relationship with the guy. Some of the comments shared might have been misconstrued;some folks can get a point across well with the written word, while others fall a little short. Not to fault anyone-that's just because we're all wired differently. I can only speak for myself, and I wish him the best in getting back on his feet and to whatever position on this rock he wishes to attain. I'll keep listening.

Good list, Ness. I'll add two more:

6. The road to hell is paved with good intentions
7. Well-intentioned people who don't know all the facts probably shouldn't be posting videos to YouTube in which they put famous harmonica players' troubles in the street and use those troubles to solicit direct financial contributions.

I have read all this and I don´t know what to say. First of all I think it´s very strange to ask complete strangers on the internet for money. And especially through another person. But I understand that here in the little duck pond called Sweden where I live it´s another welfare system than in USA. Life seem to be much harder over there. One thing I have learned is that when money is involved you can´t trust anyone. So if you don´t know facts - demand facts on the table.

If you creep a little towards the nasty side, there will be somebody out there that wants to take it and creep a little more. Sometimes is just best to shut up. Which is what I'm doing starting n

Here is a simple one that is optional, but I consider a key component of having grace...don't gossip.

If you really care, confront the person yourself, get permission to share, and then share...that has integrity.

If they don't respond, consider that they don't want to share with you right now.

Ask yourself do you really care, or do you just want a piece of the drama? Are you really helping or simply creating more drama, more mess?

That's my 2 cents.

EVERYBODY needs to let this die out.

Just because one thread is locked, doesn't mean that a new thread should morph into the same speculative and un-informed guessing and hypothesizing.

Let it die.

How about them Brazilian harps?

Here's one, people are human and make mistakes. It's important to be able to forgive. Some of you are being way too hard on yourselves.

On an unrelated topic, I learned this from a movie once, "If I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own backyard. Because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with!"

The only reason I emphasize this is that this assumption, like a recent thread gone bad, is merely supposition.

I have a very good friend who worked for Gibson for almost ten years doing personal protection ("bodyguard"). He has told me several times that Mel Gibson is a target in Hollywood and has been for quite some time.

The point being, that until you have all the facts, try not to read too much into so-called "news" stories, online fundraisers etc.

"from the horse's mouth is the only dependable information"

Yes, but if Jason has had his laptop stolen and accounts and password(s) hacked, then potentially nothing is from the horse's mouth unless it's from Adam himself (ok, strictly speaking that would still be indirect but it would be the safest option).

Having said that, analysis of Violin Cat's language left me fairly confident that it was really Jason.

I had a ranting person on the phone not too long ago. I hung up and that person kept calling and calling so I answered. I couldn't hear what that person was saying but I was in the other room while the phone was in the kitchen.

I think it made the dogs bark though....
