I didn't know that Epiphone did a Valve senior head. Looks good for the price. Anyone tried it yet?

They do a combo also.

You know it's funny but I've just checked the Epiphone website and there is no mention of these amps on there, just the valve junior. Is this possibly a european issued amp only?

I've seen them for sale at Musician's Friend:

Doesn't inspire me with confidence...I'd save for a HG DT/BF or SF Princeton/Laney LC15.

Any reason for that 5F6H? Everyone has raved about how good the Valve junior is for harp...why don't you think this one would be any good?

£250 for a valve amp here in the UK is great value for money and the couple of reviews from guitarists that I've found have been pretty positive on the whole.

Well, the amps I mention start at not much more than the V Senior and are "proven". The V Senior is cathode biased with a pretty gainy looking preamp, I vey much doubt that you will see anything like the 18W rated before feedback. You might even find the V JR (I'm really not a fan of that amp either in its stock form - many folks buy V Jr as a cheap platform for mods/experimentation) is perceived as louder? Also the V Jr is a TOTALLY different amp, virtually nothing in common with the V Snr.

Yes £250 is cheap compared to a UK/US/Mexican made amp, but not cheap for a Chinese made amp. Guitarists don't suffer from acoustic feedback as badly as amplified harp players, they can usually utilise all the rated power available...plus some.

If you have £250 to blow, then take a punt, I might be under estimating the amp, but if we're looking at a pick up & go amp, then this doesn't strike me as it.

Thanks for that Reply 5F6H. I appreciate you taking the time to give some constructive feedback. They are selling these amps at a music shop a few miles away from me so if I get a chance I'll go and give it a try soon and I'll write what I find here.
