I started a thread a while back (some may remember it) in which i stated that i was looking to catch up my knowledge of music theory to my level of playing. I havent taken great strides to know what most of the technical terms surrounding music and harp are, but I have made friends with a few fine fellows from the nashville symphony orchestra who have offered to lend a helping hand. Buddha suggested a book Ive been chipping away at, and im only now starting so see some lights come on.
Its an interesting journey. setting the harp down, and opening my mind to know the language of music. Adam said something somewhere that if you know how to play something, but cant explain it, there may be a deficiency somewhere (or something to that extent)...it was good advice for me. Just what i was looking for to progress at a time when some could get frustrated and decide to put the harmonica down for good. It probably isnt for everyone, but if you find yourself at a plateau, and unsure about what to do on the harp to get better, perhaps putting the harps back in the case and unplugging the amp is the way to go?

I second the book question.
Eddie there wouldn't be a Thompson Submachine Gun lying around the room there anywhere, would there?

Eddie, try shrinking the original and re-uploading it.
Kyzer, I wish I remembered more theory. I took 2 levels of it back in college, but I didn't buckle down and then I didn't use it for years, but even the little bit I remember helps a lot.

edit: understanding the book requires me to do simpler homework elsewhere, and i like that...i was worried that because it was jazz, that chris might be steering me in the wrong direction but it has merit for any kind of music and improv. ---------- Kyzer's Travels Kyzer's Artwork
