I am thinking about trying one of these out...http://line6.com/m9/
There was a recent software update that includes a really solid octave generator among other tweaks. Reading up on guitar forums it is really well received. Any harp players try it out?
I've used a DL4 and like the many delays offered here. I also had a Verbzilla which is worth the money for sure! When it first came out, I bought the rotary pedal. It was ok. Not nearly as nice as the DLS Rotosim. I have not used the "mods" or "filters", but know Buddha has tried a couple.
But for the price, if it would give a harp player:
Long delay Short delay Reverb (for me the Octo) Octave Rotary speaker Auto Wah
It would be worth the money and have a small footprint! Maybe perfect for rock gigs???
I have a Boss Auto Wah, Micro Pog, and BBE Two Timer. The delay is always on, but I only use the other two 1-3 times a night...so less than an effect a set. ----------

You know, I judge an effect by how it responds to playing technique--what does it do when i vary breath pressure, change size of oral resonance chamber, etc. To me, this is at least as important as the quality of the of the processed sound created by the effect.
To me delay (or reverb) is part of the sound reinforcement since it stays on all the time. My other effects pedals I tend to use more often playing jazz than playing blues.
Sometimes the effects in a multi effects unit are not as responsive to technique as stand alone pedals. I think the MicroPog, Rotosim and Retrosonic Phaser are all very harmonica friendly and respond well to playing technique. I've never tried the Line 6.
Just something to consider, FWIW.

hvyi, good point, I picked up a few guitar pedals over the years that just froze up when used with a mic. Useless. Try it first.

I have been using one for a few weeks now. It has completely replaced all my previous pedals which I am putting up for sale locally.
It's that good.
If I were to make a video review is there anything in particular you guys would like to know?

Did you find an octave effect? Specifially, what the Micro Pog covers? There is an octave effect in the 2.1 update.
Having used the DL4 and Verbzilla, they are wonderful live effects - meaning that unless you were in studio, you'd have a hard time finding them "digital" sounding. They worked great with harp. The Rotary effects were a bit digital sounding, but useable.
FWIW, regarding hvj's post, these should be the same algorithms, etc. as the individual pedals.
I think I can demo one in town here. I know there are some far out sounds on there too. Way more cost effective than individual pedals...and in my case, it would be my "rock" rig. ---------- Mike

i tried the line 6 once and it was horrible... various settings, effects etc... if it didnt sound bad, there was feedback from hell... just my opinion.. ---------- Kyzer's Travels Kyzer's Artwork

Which Line 6? The POD? Or the M9? Maybe you had compression, eq, and DISTORTION models set on without realizing it.
We're talking about the M9 here.
I find it doesn't feedback any more than ANY delay pedal that I have tried including the Lone Wolf V1 Delay and Boss DM-2.
We can't possibly be talking about the same unit if you had feedback trouble with the one you tried. And if we are, I suspect you had some nasty settings on probably left there by the previous person (most likely a guitar player) who must have demo'd it in the shop.

i'm really surprised at the attitude changes in gear choices.
i remember it was a rule of thumb that analog ruled and digital;especially modeling stuff, was verboten.
even digital delays were considered a faux pas.
the world of electronics is rapidly changing.
pretty soon, someone will come up with a really fine high wattage transistor amp that totally kicks.

The M9 lets the user choose between true analog bypass or dsp bypass.
Apparently it's wired like a pedal board. This is why I don't notice much of a difference when I use it when I compare it with other good pedals.
It's not an amp modeler with some suck ass preamp circuit that turns the tone to a flat former shadow of it's old self.
One thing that it does not do well with are the distortion models. Guitar players don't even like them compared to using real distortion boxes or their amps.
I reckon it's going to take time before amp modeling and distortion modeling units to sound anything as good as a real amp.
The Delays, Filters, Reverb, EQ, and Modulation effects on this thing is fantastic though. I can't tell much of a difference when it comes to tone loss when comparing the sound with existing Line 6 pedals like the DL4, MM4, or Echo Park.
