yup, I tried to show a friend how to bend. I'm still experimenting with the different teaching techniques and of course the straw technique can't be missing...
That's the result...
Haven't experimented with it myself, but I'm really curious how far this thing can go..

Well, the straw teaching technique goes as follows:
Imagine that you drink a milkshake through a thick straw. Now do the same with the harp infront of your mouth... and voila... the note should bend down.
Only problem is that most of my friends haven't had a commercial milkshake for... years.. lol.
Btw. as far as I know overblowing is not about blowing the air down... although it may seem that way somtimes. The reason that you change the position of your tongue is to change the resonance chamber in your mouth.
Well, the straw technique encourages the the player to tighten the lips which reduces the size of the air aperture and adversely effects tone and also only works LPing and not TBing,
A better suggestion might be to tell the player to make the vowel sounds "eee-OOO" while inhaling, The note should drop and this works for LPing OR TBing. Once they've got it, tell then to eliminate the "eee" part and just do the "OOO" part and they will hit the bend dead on instead of bending it down. This works and gets the player bending with the throat.
