Germanharpist was nice enough to provide lots of available scales and there are many more.
However does anyone have any examples of where particular scales are played...eg. Arabian scales and a particular song containing the arabian scale that you know.
Just like Jason Ricci in one of his videos points out a scale that is used in "Afro Blue" and Coltrane's "My favourite things".
Doesn't have to be blues, the greater the variety you can come up with the better..
Cheers.

You might have to Google some individual scales. I know there is a Celtic scale, that the Chinese often use the Pentatonic scale, that there is an Indian scale, Arabic, Blues. I'd start with the Wikipedia article on scales:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_scale#Non-Western_scales
And click on every link they have. I'll keep looking for more info.

I like this scale: d Eb f# g a Bb c d You figure this out by thinking harmonica minor starting at the 5th. So this is derived from G harmonic minor.
I use this scale on the tune Azure Sands in the melodic part. for the solo I switch to another scale that I can't remember right now.

I'm not sure if it's a recognized scale, but as a rank beginner on chromatic I've found that scale you can play using all the blow notes (both slide in and slide out) makes a neat near eastern sounding scale. ---------- Nate Facebook
