THE BOTTOM LINE
For people with sleep apnea, throat exercises may be a cheap and useful therapy, True a walk around the Block is Cheaper:)
playing the Harmonica or other wind instruments is a good exersise for suffers:)
it will not replace normal exersise that must be part of your daily routin combined with a Healthy diet:) but a very good exersise for any person who are Wheel chair bound:)
you will find 95% or more who suffer Sleep apnea are obese people who neglect there diet don't exersise:)
Playing a wind instrument will form a part of your exersise like not realy exersising just haveing Fun:)
Bottom Line is there a Bunch of Lazy Fat Barsterds or Bitches that won't get out of there own way and move that lard arse into action:)
I ride a Spin Bike for 40 minutes every morning then take my dog on a 1hr 15min walk combined with a healthy diet Im down to 100kg i was 140kg, i was a fat muther Trucker don't ya Know,
nothing but exersise will reduce sleep apnea there is no cure:)

I have student with a degenerative muscular disorder. The only instrument he can hold and work with is harmonica. Everything else is too heavy to manipulate. He's not the most energetic player, but some of the techniques he has developed on his own and with my help with throating are truly amazing.

Bro's my comment is not directed at any one person, or member of the Forum:)
Bottom Line is there a Bunch of Lazy Fat Barsterds or Bitches that won't get out of there own way and move that lard arse into action:)
this is a generalization from my own experience with sleep apnea i was a fat lazy barsterd:)
My condition ok Sleep apnea ,cronic obstructive airways desise, Athmatic,Bronchitise, Hypertension,
i was 140kg's i was released from hospital with a oxegen machine to help me breath, and C-pap machine to sleep with at night i had enough air hose to go from my mail box to the shit house and the cloths line,
i walk out the front of my house looked up the street looked down the street, my street was 900 meters long i had never walked up or down it i always drove my car, i knew i needed to get healthy, i broke down and cryed thinking i'm dead i'm never going to do it, i picked my fat arse up and went inside,2 days later i rang my Bro saying I'm doing it tuff,
my Bro bought me a mountain bike and a minoura trainer i got my lazy fat arse up and rode that bike in my bedroom started out slow 20 mins eventuly slaming 2 3 hours leaving a pool of sweat on the floor this took months of hard work,
my Dr was pleased with my health letting me off oxegen for 1/2 hour first then building up and up he gave me the all clear to start walking around the Block, building as i went 1 block 2 blocks i walked for hours with my dog through rain thunder every day,
it was exersise nothing else that gave me back my Health the Harmonica Plays a Big part of my life now it is very helpful but not the be all cure for my condition:)
So i relized i was a Fat lazy barsterd had to do something for myself and move that lazy arse,
just lately i realized i was becomeing this person again and bought a new spin Bike and starting to hammer out the K's again im up to 40 mins and Building:)

Hey Nastyolddog, I'm one of those old fat bastards you speak of and you speak the truth. If I would get off my lazy ass and do some moderate excercise like walking and watch my diet I could lose some of this weight (260lbs-6ft tall)and could probably drop the high blood pressure medicine and diabetes pill. I take no offense in the truth. ---------- Wisdom does not always come with old age. Sometimes old age arrives alone.

@ Nasty: The problem is the vulgar language itself, not who it's directed toward. I'm perfectly happy skipping over your posts, just thought I should add some clarification. You do get bonus points though for having a username that warns people of what to expect :) ---------- Ozark Rich __________ ##########

Nasty> I like your story and generally agree with your comments. I too was fat and out of shape with high blood pressure, cholesterol, not enough exercise + the wrong diet.I also had bouts of Asthma. Now in my 70th year it's different but it takes hard work and lots of dedication which incidentally you also need to play the harp. The harp I believe plays its part in my fitness. I have never snored so cannot comment.
I exercise daily with 10k+ brisk walks & I swim 1.5 to 2ks 3 -4 times a week. Its winter here and swimming on a cold morning, like it was this morning,in an outdoor pool is a mental challenge. I no longer have problems with blood pressure or cholesterol but have to be aware of what I eat. I eat well & love my beer but figure the exercise gives me some space. My weight is normal. Its a regime I have adhered to now for around 15 years. The pool is crowded with folks 10 years older than I who have more stringent execise programs.
I think for too long everyone has pussyfooted around the obesity problem. The Use of political correct language like 'overweight & obese' instead of calling a spade a bloody shovel & referring to 'them' as being fat & lazy. This has produced an I'm ok - I'm normal but it's far from normal. In countries like the US & Australia the problem of fat unhealthy people is the 'norm' only in a population count.
If anyone is offended or upset or overly sensitive about being fat & lazy then don't be, as you need to be told. It's a wake up call and you can do something about it.

Looks like an Aussie Fat Bastards theme! I'm a member of the Fat Bastards Motorcycle Club, but that only requires 90kg (200lb) - quite a few exceed that by miles.
Went to the quack a while ago (first time in years) with a cracked coccyx that hadn't improved in months. He decided I needed a checkover (once they've got you.......) and when I scored 210/138 on the BP, he got quite excited. I thought it was like cricket (high score = good)but apparently its like golf (low score = good). Drugs (many) fix the BP, but he reckons shedding the weight is the most likely path to success with the snoring.
As the "Minister for Sex and War" is getting the sh!ts with the snoring, looks like losing some weight might get pushed up the priorities. 6km cross country every morning isn't doing the job - I might actually have to eat less (as drinking less isn't an option). Bugger!
