Yo it's very tastful iv'e seen 1 other clip of his yeh it's cool but there are issues,
in this clip the Hip Hop Backing beat carrys the tune along,
Ok 1st im not savy to his idea on this song or his style, is he useing the Harmonica as a hip hop beat or is that the hook,
with hand wahs and drawn out notes thrown in to spice it up??
But as i listen what he is doing is very basic Blow Draw Blow Draw with the Hand Wahs as say spiceing it up,
i could see some MBH members doing exactly the same with a Hip Hop Backing beat LOOK OUT GUYS I know it's comeing, can't wait to see what you come up with Bro's,
But Yeh it's great it works Good on the Bro but i would have canned it if he started sing about SMACKING HIS BITCH UP:)
You nastyolddog, when people first saw E = MC^2 they were saying how amazing and simple it really is. Sometimes it takes a genius to come up with and implement a simple idea!
lol, I meant only the best parts Brendan! Since I saw your beatbox/harp stuff. To me it kinda has that blues/irish mix a little with airiness. Buddha told to listen and play with a blindfold so I haven't seen the obvious differences :p
To be fair I think his playing is tasteful. It could go wrong so many ways but it doesn't. He can maintain it. And really, that's the only thing that's impressive to me about him.
Definately not below average though.
Apparently Lee Oskar calls him on the phone regularly. At least, that's what he was trying to draw a lot of attention to in one of his interviews.
The only thing that really rubs me the wrong way about him is the fact that he's going on and on and on and on about how he's the "first hip hop harmonica player".
What he plays IS NOT hip hop. It's standard harmonica mixed into hip hop. Very country'ish. Soulful. But not hip hop. By that logic ALL of us are also hip hop harmonica players.
I guess with enough money and a great manager you can sell lies.
By the way, Brendan Power is a monstrous 3 headed beast compared to Bad News Brown.
He is a pro and master and I have personally heard him play more real hip hop. He can go real slow or neck-breakingly fast.
They are soooo not within the same league at all.
I have personally watched him and Buddha chilling out in private trading lines and chilling out like old buddies. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen or heard. To this day I have no damn clue what the hell my ears were hearing.
Hey Nasty, what are Man Lips? Maybe I don't get your sarcasm, but my radar went off, could you clarify? Arizona is a bit strange these days and I need that cleared.
I thought that shit was great! Whether or not he is totally original is irrelevant. He's still breaking new ground. He has a right to be a little cocky about it, but there is, of course, a limit. There's always someone else who can blow you out of the water.
Regardless, this is certainly MODERN Blues harmonica, so bravo to that!
First off,he ain't no Brendan Power! LOL I thought it was good. He knows his limitations and does a fine job of staying within them. His harp sets a mood and then he keeps it there and doesn't stray. It fits,it makes music. As far as it being MBH,I disagree. He's not breaking any new ground in anything I hear him playing.
Yo DT yes i was being sarcarstic about his pouting lips at the end of the clip when he gets in the cameras face:) but i could still do with a set of them man lips for the Ladys:)
