Hi Jules, I would go for the 520sl model. The only things to look out for are I would like to see the front of the element to see if the diaphragm is dented damaged in any way and you are always going to have pot luck with the strength and tonal qualities of an unknown mic element, even if its a vintage one.
I would leave all the others to the enthusiasts/collectors
The question you need to ask yourself is this going to be a working gig mic or is it a hobby players mic.
I would recommend any of the custom builders out there for either situation and can personally vouch for Ron Harley at SUKM - Simply Unique Custom Mics.
I have purchased 2 from Ron and we are still in contact with each other with questions generally that I have.
Ron would hook you up with whatever you are after but if you dont really know what that is then you can ask him and he will give you the run down on what element will suit your playing and you can also search on MBH for the answers.
I am a Hard Chicago Tongue Blocker Player and I have found that there is not difference in the sound of the elements the bullet mics I have.
I have 4 bullets one made by Dennis Gruenling and purchased from Buddha Black Label CR Lots of Bottom end. One from Ron Sunshine Black Label CR - Very Dark One silver Bullet from SUKM - Mexican CM 1971 Great mids and highs. One custom Blues blaster from SUKM - Low Z with Boost mod - Very loud and great mids and highs.
I have promised Ron to do a Mic comparison on my YT site and I will really soon but I stress again there is not much difference in tonal quality once you are in the mix of a band.
I have a different opinion if playing as a duo. I would use the CR's but that’s just me.
Hope this helps
Regards
Russ

My Friend Stawwoodclaw and Kingly have some great mics for sale and they would not rip you off either.
I have played through the mics of Strawoodclaw and I can recommend any one of them.
Kingly has some great offers and I would ask him what he thinks of the mics he is selling.
You need to ask the right questions to get the right answers? Oxharp

It's always a crap shoot on ebay unless you buy from some of the good builders on there. Johnny Ace, Takembackhome, Ron Sunshine, Harp Mic Jones, etc:
I would go with Ron at SUKM first if you need a great affordable mic, or Greg if you want a custom beauty.

Oxharp -Thanks for the kind words Russ.
Jules - I have 3 mics for sale. Two are Astatics with CM elements and the other is an Ev RE10. All three are monster harp mics. If I didn't need the money I wouldn't be parting with any of them.
I agree with all the comments above.

I have an exact copy of the little Archer japanese dynamic mic and it sounds excellent. Only trouble is it has a mini connector and lead which you need to use a double female jackplug connector to attach a longer lead to. Otherwise you have to sit right next to the amp to play it. This guy has got round that by having a small lead with a female jackplug attached. I only paid £15 for it and it was well worth the money. However if you want a serious mic for gigging with I agree with Kingley and Oxharp...you should go with one of type they say above. I've heard excellent reports on the RE10 from Luke Juke who bought one recently. When I spoke to him a while ago he said it was a cracking mic. ---------- Oisin

I would also recommend Dave Wren at The Harp Mic Shop also known as Technobird on ebay. He's a great guy. I've purchased a crystal and dynamic (calrad) mic kits from him (element, volume pot, jack) as well as had him mod an EV664 for me. He has some cool mics for sale.

Oh yeah the RE10 is a fantastic mic.
Jules - Of the original mics you listed. The only one I would buy is the Shure 520SL. For what it's worth, a while ago I bought a CM element off that same ebay seller and it was superb.

I've also had good results with Wren. ---------- I used to be young and foolish. Now I'm not so young.
