OK This is the tune I played at my Dads Funeral last week to say Goodbye. It was my very very first ever performance in public and I was terrified. It's a sort of bastardisation of St James Infirmary and Wayfaring Stranger that I worked out.
I buggered up the timing a bit on this take but I promise the live version was absolutely spot-on. I asked my daughter to video the performance but she thought it disrespectful and in retrospect she's right but I would have loved to have had that one moment captured for ever.
Nice stuff it sounded as if had an Irish influence,
Bro am i the first to notice you hold the harp awkardly, Im right handed and hold my harp in my left hand, are you Left handed,so you hold your Harp in your right hand just curiouse Bro:)
Thanks for the comments everyone. Much appreciated.
@Nasty - No I'm right handed and find it so uncomfortable holding it in my left hand. I have tried and tried to change but I can't. There are a few right hand holders about so I'm not too concerned now.
very very touching. It must take a lot of strengh of spirit and love to play at a family member's funeral. Somebody once asked if they could hire me to sing Danny Boy at someone's funeral. In the end it didn't happen but I'm glad it didn't...it would have been too much emotion and I wouldn't have known how to handle it...even if I didn't know the deceased.
Did your father play or like to listen to harmonica?
