I just survived the longest 5 minutes in my life gang. A tornado ripped through my part of the world here in Yazoo City ,Mississippi on the 24th of April(just now have electricity)and left complete devastation. I rode the 170 mph F4 winds in a middle closet with my Border Collie. Some mighty scary and strange sounds were heard. Anyway my dog and me survived even though my house containing most of everything i own including my Cruncher,Kalamazoo and assortment of black element mics did not. But you know what? I can care less.So when i turned my computer on and came to my favorite site(this one) and read about the squabbling about Crunchers and Missions... I just had to laugh.Lifes Good!!!

Likewise, Delta Dirt, I'm glad you made it. That has got to have been an overwhelming experience. Holler out if you need support, you never know where it might come from

DD, glad to hear you and your dog are OK. That must have been pretty damn scary!
We had a very small tornado pass over our house three years ago--it just tore off a few roof tiles and tree branches (and made the rain water flow uphill in our driveway). When it had passed, the air was completely, eerily calm. Birds were singing.
Best wishes with the rebuilding.

Congrats on surviving. When you put it that way, it helps place things in perspective.

I remember my mom panicking when I was a little kid. I had some friends over and we'd just sent them home because the weather was getting grim and she spotted a tornado forming off in the distance. She called and made sure they made it home. I think we went down in the basement after that. I was pretty little. A big old tree in our neighbors yard got torn up by the roots. Wind is scary stuff. Glad your OK. Good luck rebuilding. ---------- Nate Facebook

Thanks guys for the warm words. I live on five acres full of 100-150 year old red oaks. Any number of them could have hit the house..possibly where i was but they didnt .The winds however took the roof and in the middle of the storm i was looking up at sky.Im very fortunate and thankful. Thank God for insurance and caring church groups as far away as Virginia and Tennessee to help dig us out of the rubble. Guess who came calling 9 days after the storm? FEMA

Glad to hear you made it out with the most important thing intact-your harps. ;-) Nah, thank God you and your dog made it thru, and good luck with repair efforts. I know firsthand that's no fun. I will keep you in my prayers. ----------

DD....glad to hear you and your dog are safe. ---------- Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art. - Charlie Parker

Delta Dirt,
I grew up in Oklahoma and never gave a second thought to tornadoes - mostly because there were so many and we had the best storm weather trackers in the country. We moved to Nashville, TN and go nailed by the tornado that ripped through downtown and East Nashville. We only lost our roof and a bunch of stuff crushed by falling 100 lb. pieces of plaster from the rain afterwards. Every day seemed to be a good one after that one. We were alive and our stuff was just that - stuff. Tornadoes suck because they rip damage in odd ways. You can have your home demolished and every one else's around you is just fine as they drive past you and your wreckage on their way to work. We were lucky(if you can call it that) that our whole area was devastated because we could all pull together to help each other. I hope your cleanup goes well and that you are not stuck too far out on your own out there. The best thing is that you and your dog are here to see another day.
Best Wishes, and my prayers are with you.

wow, and now nashville area is flooding. hope you're up off the flood plain dd! we've been lucky here so far- just north of little rock. we've had a couple of big trees dome down in high winds- one hickory barely missed my wife in the car about a year ago- but no major damage. tornadoes have hit within a few miles of home here but not right here as yet.
i think the egg heads are right about one thing- for whatever reason we're beginning to see more and worse stormy weather, and i'm afraid it'll get more intense as time goes on.
