It seems to me that we all pay somewhat different prices for our harps. I'd be interested how much my mbh brothers in the US but especially GB and Downunder pay compared to here in germany.

So here it goes (1 EUR = 1.31731 USD)

Hohner
Crossharp: 50€  (66$)
MB Deluxe: 38€  (50$)
Golden Melody 32€  (42$)
Special 20: 26€  (34$)
MB Classic: 25€  (33$)
Big River: 19€  (25$)

Suzuki
Manji: 47.50€  (63$)
Bluesmaster 25€  (33$)
Harpmaster: 20€  (26$)

Seydel
1847: 70€  (92$) - I remember them costing 75€ (99$)
Solist Pro: 37€  ($49)

Lee Oskar
Diatonic 23€  (30$)

+ 2.5€  ($3.3) shipping.

Most music stores everywhere in the US tend to charge more than the internet harp specialist stores as a general rule. Prior to that and some of the early snail mail order catolog shops like Kevin's Harps and F&R Farrell, on the East Coast, the cheapest prices were usually at Manny's on West 48th Street in NYC.

A MB at the local store is $46 with tax. They have limited keys as well. Ordering from Ron they are $30 with free shipping.

I don't even buy emergency harps from local stores. I just get by with what I have until my online order gets in! ;)

I tend to not tear through harps and keep limited ones on hand in keys I don't use alot. I am down to my last "new" Eb and realized that I couldn't find one in town in any model.

Bro Down this way walk into any Muso shop ask for a Harp you got 2 Major Brands to choose From,
and depending on how hard you haggle the prices varys

i will start with over the counter price,
ask for discount,
Haggle,
and my twist the arm tell it how it is Price,

Hohner SP-20 $60,,$55,,$50,,$45 or $40
Lee Osker -- $60,,$55 :(

Lee Oskars is the Major Player iv'e asked at every muso shop i visit what Brand Harps they sell the most,

Lee Oskars 1st
Hohner SP-20 2nd

As for other Brands the Aussie crowd has been Bled on Lee Oskars and Hohner SP-20's,
these are over the counter best sellers,

The Hohner Pro Harp is Avaliable over the counter but it's a dog no one likes those Roo Bars that stick out the Front, and over the counter will cost about $2 or $5 more,

the newer Model Hohners Delux and Cross are going to be around $78 to $80 i'm told by the local music shop, yep thats right there not hear yet but can get them online,

as for the other Brand Hohners BR GM they have to be orderd in my Part of town and in the many Burbs and outer towns theres about 15 shops,no one stocks them,
and we just havn't realy been introduced to these Harps,

we get Tombo Folk Masters,Utimos and Turbos,
but the norm sitting beside LO's SP-20s is the Folk master
and i don't know one person that playes them,

Susuki have slowly creep in Pro Master 350 350v $80 TO $90 buck no Haggling or discounts,

ask a Kid at a Music shop for a MANJI he will say sorry mate i don't smoke dope at work,
MANJI thats right Bro's never heard of them, they will say who makes them,

as for all them other Harps i hear of,Delta Frosts, Seydels,Bushmans,Herings,Haungs,Merinos,
Ya may as well be talking Martian Bro's we don't get them,

so Bro's when it comes to Harmonicas we are Harmonicist ignorants we go with the Flow good Old Lee Oskars or Hohner SP20's,

I'm Hard Core SP-20 and buy my Harps online most times, from time to time i have to go and buy over the counter
thats when the fun starts,

the guys that know me see me walk in the Door and Throw
a new guy my way to chew to up while they stand back
and smile,
when they have had there fun they save the poor Basterd,
walk over it's ok mate i will fix it up Mate
i walk out the door with 2 harps for $80 and a kid who wish he never net me:)

I haven't checked in a little while. The cheap harps, like Blues Bands run about $6. I got my Puck for $8.95 I think. I think SP20's are in the $30 range. Same with L.O.'s. They don't even know that Suzuki makes harmonicas and have never even heard the word Seydel.

That's interesting. The most common harp in Germany is the Blues Harp, because it has Blues in it's name. Then I'd guess comes the Big River, cause it's the cheapest, and the Pro Harp, cause it has Pro in it's name.

Yep, Nastyolddog is pretty spot on. I've had LO's mostly cause of availability, price, and durability, but now I want to try a few Suzukis and the local shops (Central Coast of NSW 1hr Nth of Sydney)have to order them in usually from U.S. I hardly bother now< just order them myslef from Mandoharp up the coast from the net. They're trying to carry Seydels too which is good.

Here are the prices for what is usually available at South African music stores

Rand (ZAR)/Dollar exchange rate @ 1 ZAR = 0.133207 USD
Rand (ZAR)/Euro exchange rate @ 1 ZAR = 0.101745 EUR

Hohner

Silver Star – Rand = R139 / USD = 18.52 / EUR = 14.15
Big River – Rand = R320 / USD = 42.65 / EUR = 32.57
Marine Band – Rand = 380 / USD = 50.64 / EUR = 38.66
Blues harp / Pro Harp – Rand = R390/ USD = 51.98/ EUR = 39.70

Suzuki

Bluesmaster – Rand = 310 / USD = 41.31 / EUR = 31.56

A bit of haggling and knowing where to shop can get you slightly better prices, but the above is usually what they sell for.
