I got 2 used FMR really nice compressors today. I used them on the vocal/harp mic and the guitar amp. I noticed everything to be real treblely. I had to back off the highs mega time. This was my first experiment with these things, and my first with a real hardware compressor before going into the computer. Up till now I have used plug in computer compressors after the recording. I got a lot of knob turning to do before I figure these things out. Here are my first 2 songs with them:

I work in a tough scene- an very poor high school. Poverties byproducts are hopelessness, shame, sadness, dreamless, and anger. This is the real blues, the real blues of many young peoples lives that society closes its eyes to. I feel blessed to work in this world. Everyday it makes you cry, laugh, and reflect on what life is really about. I sang some out tonight. Walter

The Gloth: Thanks! Rarely does anyone comment on my keyboard stuff. I really don't play them much. That song is a true one. I learned playing on the old upright pianos in clubs after they closed or early when we did soundchecks. Living on the highways and moving as much as we did, owning a piano, records, and much of anything but guitars, harps,stage clothes, was not feasible. To record with the keys I have to go through a lot of plugging and unplugging of cables due to the small size of my studio (12'x12'). I hope to build a bigger studio soon so I can have all this stuff set up and ready to go without these hassles. I think I would play the keyboards a lot more. Walter

5-19-10 - tonight my 1963 jazzmaster called me. I got it back in austin around 1985-6. Lonnie Mack gave it to stevie vaughn, who in turn let it rotate around austin. It ended up in my arms and has stayed ever since. I am still figuring how to capture it right on recordings. Everyone who was anyone in austin in that era played on this baby.

I hear you on that nacoran! I don't even listen to most of my songs all the way through. Once I get a good mix on them, I post them on soundclick, burn them to a cd and am done with them. My mixing process after a session usually takes 3 minutes or less per song. Loading them to soundclick often takes as much or more time that it did to record and mix the things. Walter
