Who has been to The Birthplace of the Blues?
What places would you recommend seeing?
What was the hospitality like where you stayed?
Are you planning on making a return trip?

I am also interested in this information. I am literally in the surgery waiting area during my wife's surgery, but assuming all is well with her rehab I intend to go to Hill Country as well. I should know enough of her condition to be able to make payment around the first week of May. I'll also be (hopefully) coming a little early and would love to hear where to drive to in southern Miss. as I'll have a car. If no points of interest are gathered by my research or from some forum members I'll most likely spend a couple of days in Memphis and hang out at some of the clubs there for some music. Looking forward to being the hack in the back of the room.

Try to get your hands on "Blues Traveling" subtitled 'The Holy Sites of Delta Blues' by Steve Cheseborough.
A friend of mine here in the Netherlands used it for his travels and had a marvellous time.

clarksdale is a must, and hit helena ar. just 20 minutes from clarksdale while you're at it. sonny payne does the king biscuit time radio show at the delta cultural center on cherry street in helena at least every friday if not every weekday. he welcomes walkin guests, in fact i got to jam with half the band i'm working with plus some other choice players just last friday, live on the air!

clarksdale has ground zero blues club, red's juke joint, and several other joints that have music frequently. cat head blues and art store is where you will find out what's going on in town at the time. sahack up inn is nice and riverside hotel is the real historic place to stay- rat is the owner and he's been in clarksdale all his life, met all the greats at one point or another. million stories and good clean rooms for fair $$.

several years ago we hit west point for a live show, and swung by the wolf statue, unfortunately we missed the museum. richard ramsey, who put the museum together, is a real good guy. we hope to visit there next trip over to missippi.

too bad you guys just missed the juke joint fest in cdale last weekend- what a killer weekend it was! there's a fest coming up in early may, clarksdale caravan- should be a good time also.

wild hog bike fest is right now in helena. i'm playing el rio lindo with big red and the soul benders tomorrow (saturday) night.

if it was me i'd start in clarksdale and expand out from there.

I'm dead, unfortunately. But my spam-bot is answering email.

It was about 150 miles south of me. We had a thunderstorm, and a pretty mild one.

J Bone is right Clarksdale is the place to go first .. Then you are in the middle of it all ...and nothing is more than 2 hours away ...most places are within a hour ...Stop by the Hambone Art Gallerie .. or Blues Source .. Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art. - Charlie Parker
