Their name was ip123456. I don't know if they are a new spammer or just an old one that got churned up. I deleted the message but I don't know if there will be more.

i am on a few forums. i have never seen spammers on most of them. how come this site gets so many? is there anything the forumites do?

It's possible someone has a virus, but it's likely someone in a third world country is posting them for a dirt cheap wage. Some forums have spam filters that will catch some of it. Most forums just have moderators who delete the stuff. I've wondered what attracts a spammer to a forum. I have no idea.

A lot of forums & other sites have tighter registration security.
For example, do you see all those sites that display an image and have you enter the characters from that image to create an account? These are 'random' images stored on a database with actual text representations attached to them. A bot cannot know what an image has on it. At best it can find what the image is called but that won't help it. Then the bot cannot register & cannot post but humans can get passed this step (sometimes with effort! some of those are darn hard to read, lol).

LOL! I think I just figured out why ip123456 is spamming. His posts were on the metal toxicity post and he was posting spam for W O W G O L D!!! ---------- Nate Facebook
