A spambot named Yaoying, sent by the evil trolls of Basketballbay.com, has spewed spermy ads all over this forum--at least seven pages deep.

I have destroyed the spambot. But the spam remains.

Please help me wreak such implacable revenge that the masters of the Basketballbay.com universe resolve never to come near us again.

Please go to the following page:

http://www.basketballbay.com/contact_us.html

A pink "24/7 online service" floater will visit the upper right side of the page. Click on it. You will be given a chance to dialogue with Jenny or Sara. I've just had a conversation with Sara. I told her to leave us alone.

Please have one or more conversations with Sara. Be polite, if possible, but extremely firm.

Think: I am Buddha with two good dogs here. I will exact revenge.

Please execute this mission with all of the tact and grace for which blues harmonica players are known. Not.

Done. I told them we will be coming over. And I implied I meant their living room....

Told them to stay away.

P.S. It's now a Federal offense to threaten someone
using email.

They can get the general location where you live but
only a search warrant can get you address.

I copied and pasted the spam message and sent it back numerous times to the online operators (numerous times). they promise to stop spamming but somehow I doubt their sincerity.

Okay, done. They wouldn't respond so I'll assume I got my point across.

Today is my birthday. I spent the first 45 minutes of it deleting spam. I've got other things to do, as you might imagine, but hope the administrators will help out.

Happy birthday Adam!

the IP for www.basketballbay.com is 213.5.68.221

more info

The host for their website is Altushost in the Netherlands:

hosting service info

The email to complain is abuse@altushost.com

HOWEVER... this might not achieve what you want, as the spammer himself may (likely) be using a completely different ISP to post the spam. If you can provide an IP for the poster himself (Macwebsitebuiler might be able to help) then we can do the same search and trace the slimey piece of human detritus who was responsible for this attack.

I just deleted a piece of spam by a guy named Tazyentet. Adam, you might want to block him too. I found another 4-5 of Yaya's and deleted them.

edit- or rather a few more pages of it.

I think it's all gone now except for this one post-

http://www.modernbluesharmonica.com/board/board_topic/5560960/570214.htm

(I didn't know if you needed it for the ISP. I removed the offending content)

I saw post numbers as high as 259, so a couple thoughts-

Adam, could you check with your host to see if there is a way to erase all posts by one poster at once? (Obviously just a feature for you.) Also maybe a post per day limit. A limit like 40 would probably not stop chronic posters like Jon Sparrow and me and would have stopped this guy (at least under that username) at about 1/6th to 1/7th of the posts.

And to everyone else, if you see spam, even one piece, report it immediately. The quicker Adam can ban them the sooner they can stop posting. Try not to post on a thread that is only popped out of obscurity because a spammer has posted on it. It's fine to revive old threads, but by posting after the spammer you put your name as the last poster instead of the spammer, which makes it a little harder to find it all.

As for deleting it, mods, I found the easiest way was to open a whole bunch of windows at once so you don't have to wait for them to load (I use Chrome to minimize the risk of a browser crash) and then just plow through the windows deleting the spam post by post

I agree with the post about reporting this one to the ISP. There is spamming, and then there is this.

Just be cautious regarding this info. I'm not 100%, but it is possible that this address etc... is for an entirely innocent third party web designer or such like. The ISP I posted above is the one to go for with a polite complaint regarding the actions of one of their customers. As I said, they may well ignore the complaint since the spam will in all likelihood not have come through their service. We need the spambot's IP for that.
