Hi! I've got an out of the box Golden melody Key of E. and I get a big squeal everytime on the 2draw bent a 1 full tone. If I bend that note and draw softer just the little, all that is left is the squealing. I read about bee wax and nail polish, All I can find here is nail polish should I try that trick or is it unadvised? Thanks

Not, learn breath control or adjust the reed a little. ----------

I play GMs and it seems that one in every 6 or 7 I purchase squeals when the 2 hole draw is bent a full step. I have tighted the gap on both reeds which stops it sometimes, but the biggest thing I found was that I was bending the 2 hole slightly more than a whole step. Try playing the note against a tuner or 4 hole blow on an B harp and see if they match.
Never tried wax or polish.

IMO you should send all squealers to Hohner and complain loudly.

Or you could send them to harpwrench or buddha to be customized and that will definitely solve the problem.

Harmonicanick- Money is relative. I remember reading once years ago that it wasn't worth Bill Gates time to bend over and pick up a $10,000 bill. He could make more money doing his job in that time.
Of course, for me, if I drop a penny down a storm drain I'm going in after it. :)
I think you also learn a lot about what's going on inside the harp when you open them up. With my skills though it's cheaper to leave them closed.
