Just got back from a gig last night, weird one, walked in the stage door with our kit and immediately saw that English phenomonen (or is it?) the 'hen' party!
wow that's 20 girls dresssed as air hostesses knocking back shots and cocktails like ther's no tomorrow! They had a giant blow-up dildo and were screaming..
anyway, we were carrying the kit in and they rushed up and cried 'are you the stripper' wtf', probably not but is that a compliment to a nearly 60 yr old~?
Set up the gear amidst all sorts of simulated debauchery and then the stripper did arrive, rushed into the toilet got changed, came out, got his kit off and was paid £70 for 3 minutes and then ran out to his next gig and then we had to play a bit of blues for 3 hours.....performance oh my god

Hyper-energetic, screaming, drunk, with blow-up dildo... f-in scary. The only thing which would be worse if it were clowns.

Yes its funny, but in retrospect I find it very scary what young lads and particularily girls are getting up to on Saturday nights in city centres in the uk.
Is it like that in the US?
Bear in mind that the pubs in city centres are souless themed chain bars with cut price alcohol and bouncers on the door, targeting the 17-21 year olds.
There is 24 hour opening now, and so they will drink all day and night.
There are no friendly pubs with a good cross-section of ages left.
When they stumble home in the wee small hours they vomit and urinate on the pavement and cause vandalism to parked cars etc
Sorry about the OT rant but the band and I were really shocked by the level of depravity we saw.

This is New Orleans, so depravity elsewhere isn't necessarily considered depravity here(especially amongst frat-boy tourists in the French Quarter). Not to say you won't EVER see that kinda thing here, but most bar owners will shut it down-unless they're in on it, too.
Now, during Mardi Gras? All bets are off! If you want to have good CLEAN fun, not even the streets are kid-safe during Mardi Gras.

clowns are scary german, but iv'e seen scarier.
used to play the 'red light district' and shared the gear room with an underage stripper(she was nice). lot of crackheads dealin' out the back door and syringes in the bathroom and buy me drinky girls. anyway..
one night a 6'3" whackout with BBs on a breadboard and a short denim mini started twirlin' 'round the dance floor lifting up his/her skirt. no underwear and a huge hebrew national. looked geneticly modified. as usual, the band played on..yuck!!!
a real girl pulled this same act at a different club a year ealier. it took much longer for anyone to find fault with her though as she was quite fetching. later i found out she was a paralegal so i'm sure her defence was superior to 6'3"s.
