So, I read on another forum that SPAH in 2011 will be in Virginia Beach. Can this be confirmed? I do wish they would have attempted to get to Philadelphia or something. It is what it is.

I still think Virginia Beach would be cool though, at least it's in the north east & I could probably make the drive in under a day :) . Unless they didn't mean THE SPAH and they meant a convention like SPAH.
I know the guys in my harmonica group have put effort into bringing SPAH to Philly but it sounds they sure do make it hard.
You aren't from around Philly are you Zack?

Ryan, I live in Maine, which is why I said Philly would be great, it is quite close. I don't think I'll be making SPAH, which is a shame, but I have more important things to think about in 2011 like my graduation and school supplies for college, etc. I could use the $1,000+ for books or a laptop or something, or even to cover a miniscule amount of tuition.

Ryan- I'm not sure I'd call Virginia North East, but at least it's East. :)
I'm still waiting for something big in NYC or Boston. (I'm resigned to that being as close as it's going to get.)

Sacramento was all the way in the bottom near like NO one, so I don't get why they don't do that for us. And, yeah, Philly seems cool, but I have never been!

I'm headin' out at 6AM. About 100 lbs of luggage. And I screwed up and failed to get a seat assignment on my long leg (SFO-PHL) so I'm stuck in a friggin' middle seat. But vendor setup is on Tuesday - and this way (unlike HCH) maybe a thunder storm can't ruin my entire trip. ---------- /Greg

Have they announced where SPAH 2012 is going to be held? I can't make it this year unfortunately, but I'd definately like to try to make it next year, if possible.

Is there anyone going to SPAH who is without hotel arrangements? If anyone is interested in sharing a room, I have one room with two beds, and I only plan to use one of them!

I hope it comes back around to California again. I had just gotten my first harps a few weeks before and didn't know about SPAH until about 2 weeks before it started. I was only able to make it on the last day. I am glad it was just about 20 minutes away.

105Heat index? Oh man.
I recently discovered 5-6 guys from the Philly harmonica club are going :) .
Im giving one of them a ride down, I think we're leaving about 7am and expect to get there in time for dinner, grabbing the hotel, & figuring out how to get in on the blowoff.
Should be a fun week! Meet me for drinks or some such :) .

RyanMortos: To get to the Jewish Mother
The Harmonica "Blow-Off" as you all know is at the "Jewish Mother". Take 264 E to 1st Colonial Ave North Exit. Then turn right after Taco Bell into the shopping Center. The Jewish Mother will be a bit further into the parking lot to your left.

Tuckster,
Yeah it'll be good to see you again too. Last I heard from Fred, he was thinking about going down on Thursday but we couldnt figure out who to contact to see what the cost per day would be for those that didnt do the whole week. So, I dunno.

Harpman Freeman,
I think last year they had a shuttle bus take everyone over to the blowoff from the hotel. Im hoping that will be available again. Last year I also prepaid for the blowoff weeks before SPAH & this year I didn't see that option. Those are the things Im unsure of.

So do we have a MBH forum get-together planned? One possibility is for 5:30 on Thursday, after my 4:30 to 5 PM solo show. I'm not sure who is performing after me, though, and I have a vague recollection that it's somebody good......

Kudzurunner,
5pm until 6:30/7pm everyday but Saturday is a dinner break, no scheduled activities. There'll be a good 2 hours between your workshop and Robert Bonfiglio's performance. I'm planning to make your workshop.

SPAH does not offer or accept prepayment for the blowoff, as the blowoff is not a SPAH function. SPAH supports the Blowoff (as with shuttles and publicity) but does not finance or run it.
