Hiya Folks,
Do any of youse dabble with that software "Garage Band". I've heard about it for a long time but never tried it out. Recently a friend was showing me how to do certain things and I was amazed! It's a great piece of software.
The feature I am most excited about is that you can generate a back-track of any genre and put in a harmonica over it -- a live-recorded harmonica. You can generate any genre and have something different every time.
I've uploaded the backtracks with and without a harmonica. Enjoy!
Slow Blues (A) With Harp Slow Blues (A) No Harp
Blues in (G) With Harp Blues in (G) No Harp
PS. Does anyone know who the harmonica player is?

I use GarageBand quite often it's a great piece of kit. You could actually make a near studio quality CD with it. It has a whole studio full of effects and live loops, etc.
You can also use external mics, midi interfaces, etc to record live instruments. There are also a fair amount of plug-ins out there for GarageBand.
Sorry I don't know who recorded the harp loops though.

I had an older version but I got frustrated with it. It wasn't real stable. Maybe that's been fixed. Of course, Audacity crashes all the time too, but at least it's free.

I have both, and audacity is more user friendly for non computer inclined folk, but garage band can def put out a higher quality product in the end...either one wil suit you fine... ---------- Kyzer's Travels

??Audacity / Garage Band???
I use Audacity every week, but I have NO IDEA how to make it generate a jam track like that.
I use Band In A Box. I can make jam tracks all day long, but they don't have the tone and sound like I just heard in Blues in (G) posted above. Band in a Box sounds very mechanical in comparison.
I have had fun at jamstudio.com making tracks with equally good sound, but it has limited capabilities.
I am intrested in trying Garage Band or a PC equivalent.
And is GarageBand an Apple only product??? I'm a PC guy

Jim - Garageband is Mac only. I think fruityloops is a close PC equivalent.

Use garageband all the time - made hundreds of songs in a variety of grenres of varying quality - but yeh you can get some real good sounds from it. Jazz stuff comes out probably the best so far.
