Hey, I was just playing around with my LLF at the high end and I got a raised pitch on a 9 hole draw. After a little practice I could sustain it. I was able to sustain it and reproduce it on the 8-10 holes. Once I get it I can maintain it steady for several seconds. On the 8 hole it seems to be between C8 and B7 (the hole usually plays A4 blow, G4 draw.) The 9 and 10 hol I'm not sure I'd even want to try it on a harp that wasn't low tuned. It would be up in dog whistle territory, but it's a steady clean note. Anyone know anything about it?

over-draw... essentially, an overblow (raised pitch) on the draw notes. Only possible on the 7, 8, 9, & 10 holes draw on a 10 hole diatonic (where the corresponding hole blow note is higher pitched).

Is it usual for them to be that much higher? I jumped a couple octaves. And I still can't get an over-blow!

OK, if over-draw is the word for the reverse of an over-blow, what are the really deep draws on the 2 and 3 holes called?
Edit- Over-bend. It makes sense now. Thanks.

Nate's Progress Report
? Blow ? Draw ? Bend ? Over-Bend ? Blow-Bend ? Over-Draw X Over-Blow
edit- Doh, that looked so much cooler before I hit enter. I used the alt key to make little check marks but they turned into ?'s.

well, the really deep bends are still bends. My understanding of the term 'overbend' is to bend a reed down PAST the accurate pitch needed.
(Yeah, I hate it when I have the word, sentence, and paragraph breaks just where I want them, Hit the 'Post Message' button, and everything changes...)

I thought overbend was the general term for overblow and overdraw...
From previous threads I gathered that bending the note past it's accurate pitch was called bending it to the floor/to the max. ---------- germanharpist on YT. =;-) - Resonance is KEY!
