Hi,
Is it normal to have teeth marks on the top cover (LOs), this thing is steel I think, and over holes 234 mainly, full of teeth marks on all the keys I use regularly, some of them are rather new harmonicas.
Is this normal, am I doing something wrong?
I don't notice hitting my teeth at all.
thanks
I'm a lip purser btw.

I don't touch the harp with my teeth when playing but I know some do. Some might flame me for this but I always say, whatever works is correct. I would not be worried about the harps but when i see what lip piercings can do I'd be worried about my teeth ...

Sounds like you're pressing that thing into your mouth too hard. Loosen up your embouchere and relax a bit;your lips will make the seal without pushing the harp down your throat. ;-) I'm primarily a purser, and in 20+ years, I've NEVER put tooth marks on my covers. I've never seen you to know, but the only other explanation is if you can eat a cob of corn thru a chain link fence, then you might need a dentist involved... ----------

Are you sure it's your teeth...? Marks on brass... maybe, marks on steel sounds weird.
Ok, just to be sure... that's not you, is it? [image removed] - wow, site owner wasn't happy...

When I first saw the marks I thought it was only dirty but they are marks..
on all harps.
I don't have no piercings, what's going on here.
I tried to do more marks over holes 7-8-9 by banging and scratching the cover with my teeth but to no avail.
Anyway, I don't want to waste your time here but if anyone has marks, please let me know.
note: my front teeth are mostly made of composite material (long story)... I don't think this stuff is harder than natural teeth material tough.
strange..

Good catch, Holliston-I forgot that he's our amplified mobile harp player...if he drove in New Orleans with all our potholes, he'd either have no teeth left, or no harmonica left. ----------

really nice...
I took a picture but it's low quality (blackberry).
Anyway, the covers are totally scratched, and only on the ones I use the most... I'm not hallucinating, and the fact that nobody here seems to have this problem despite a thousand years of cumulated harp playing experience tells me that I'll be visiting the dentist pretty soon.

I have never heard of this happening, and I,m a player since 74.(use to be a play-a, now I just blow harp)You should not have to involve your teeth. If you are, you are hurting the overall proper tecnique of playing the instrument. You need to keep the harp between your lips, with the harp gently between your teeth.(relax, its not jerky) If you continue biting on that bad boy,in years to come you will definitely need some serious dental work. And if you don,t have the $$$ for the work,I guess it won,t be as bad as to you,ll be gumbing at it and won,t have to worry about teethmarks.
