Ok, I was trying to think what to post for the challenge, and I thought I'd record a couple things. Only problem is I have a really cheap recording set up. After a couple minutes it became an epic battle of wills. I would get something recorded. It wasn't about the challenge, it was about getting it to sound better.

I opened up Audacity and started adding effects. I quickly past the point of no return. It wasn't long before what I had no longer sounded like a harmonica. And then Audacity started crashing. I still hope to get something recorded, but in the meanwhile, there is this. Honest, that started out as a harmonica!!! So without further warning, I mean adieu...

What did you use to make the recording?

I was hoping to have a better set up by the time the contest rolled around. My speakers don't even have a microphone jack, but today I found out it didn't matter, because my microphone didn't pick up the speakers. (I was playing along with the original recording to practice it.) I think there is a pitch shift, a tempo shift, a condenser, and echo, a wah and a flanger and maybe a few other things. Oh, and a reverse on an extra track. I was really just trying to figure out what things sounded like recorded on the mic and I got a little carried away, then Audacity started crashing before I could get a good regular sound.

Hey nacoran, some of that sounded like a moog. With a little restraint you may just have something there.

wow!
you either did something horrible or great!
i dont think anybody would guess harmonica when asked, "what instrument is this?".
i found it interesting and i bet jason would too for that psychedelic type space song he does.

Tooka- I was trying to fine tune it a bit, but Audacity keeps crashing. I don't think it's the program as much as my computer. I'm in the process of pricing out some new computer parts.

eHarp- I was getting real frustrated. Even adjusting the levels on the tracks was crashing the program. I think I need more RAM.

Thanks for giving it a listen guys. It doesn't sound anything like what I wanted when I started but it was pretty fun, except for the program crashing over and over.

edit- and just in case anyone is interested the song I was playing's real name is 'Love Song for a Vampire' originally by Annie Lennox.
