My new Seydel soloist pro 12 in low C rattles on the 1 blow and the two draw. This is not a problem I'd had before. Is it because of the extreme lowness? or just a manufacturing problem.
Also, is there an easy fix or does iit go back to Seydel.
A|nd yes I have been playing gently.

Play quieter and it goes away. That would be the reed actually slapping up against the cover plate. A seydel 1847 Low C actually has the reed plate bent away from the reed in that area and that helps, a lot.

Jfflr1 , I just got a low D sp20 , and it has the same problem ,I took the covers off and it still rattles , so I would say that is the lowness( as you call it) the heavy tip probably makes the reed have an initial side movement and hits the slot......Try to take the covers off and see if it still doing it.

also make sure the reed is perfectly centered , if not and if it has rivets try to center it .

No, it won't help at all and neither will a thicker cover plate. I'd suggest that you get in touch with Seydel and ask them if the cover plates from the 1847's on the low C's-F will fit on those and if they do, order them right away. That's always gonna be a problem with low pitched harps no matter who makes them, but at least on the 1847's, if they do, it's usually because of playing too hard. The other move would be go to a customizer and have them properly reshape the bottom cover plate.
