I recently completed a fun video collaboration with British rock harmonica specialist Will Wilde:
We're playing our own harp tunings, which are similar but different. The track is in Em, Will's using a Wilde Rock Tuning harp 2nd Position in A, I'm using a PowerBender in C 5th position. I include harp info and tuning diagrams at the end, for anyone interested in checking them out.
These collaborations are great, Brendan. Great tune. Good production. I love how these collaborations show how there are various ways to play or tune harmonicas to get results that not only sound good individually but complement each other as well. As always, thanks!
This is a very fine collaboration, BP, considering that two players notable for amazingly adept but utterly different approaches to diatonic harmonica find a common musical terrain. Your Celtic/Jazz/Word music lyricism comes across terrifically in a hard rocking melodramatic framework, and Will and yourself respond to each other's sorties with great aplomb. ---------- www.ted-burke.com
Extra ta Robbert and Ted! I recorded a few rock tracks on my earlier albums but haven't explored that territory for a long while. If you like the harder stuff, here's an original instrumental from 1991 that may tickle your reeds:
