I'm going to learn the same tunes on banjo and harp. I pick the 5 string banjo Scruggs style and learning to play the harp. I'm learning Wildwood Flower on both instruments now. After that it will be You Are My Sunshine and Red River Valley as I already pick them on banjo. My goal is to be able to play a lead break with each instrument along with a sound track.

Sounds like a good goal. I've tried to learn a bit of guitar to add to my harp but every time I try I end up with tendonitis in my wrists. I do a little foot percussion and sing but I haven't found another lead instrument to add.

Easy tunes. Country/folk/tradition melodies was what I started with. No MBH or backing tracks. LOL If I was doing it today, I would learn it in first position, then second or third. I think that would be very helpful early on. I'm not smart or good enough to go past that.

Post one up when you learn it.

I'll post a video when I am able to play it well enough to not be embarrassed. I'm learning the tune in G on the banjo from a YT video by William Nesbitt. I'm learning the harp part from the Banjo Primer by Tom Wolf. As a beginner harp player, I'm working on 1st position, getting clean single notes.

I started messing around with a Ukulele (bass) which is tuned like a guitar. I've bought a four string tenor banjo. I've tuned it like the uke and play. It is a lot of fun, but I'm way better on the harp.....
