I really like the way these harps play. They are very responsive.
My question is: does anyone else have a problem with the taste it puts in your mouth?

Do you have to take them out of the case and let them air out?

I remember they definitely had a strong odor of plastic when I first got them. It has since subsided.

I got them in Paddy Richter to give it a try, and I agree with your assessment on playability. They are nice and at the price allowed me to dabble in another tuning that I find really useful.

My only issues are with the etched coverplates. They aren't totally smooth and feel rough on the upper lip. Nothing some sandpaper can't take care of though.

I have had no problem with them at all. I pretty much use them exclusively.

It's usually good to let your harps dry out a bit after you play them before sealing them away in a case, although that depends on how wet a player you are. :)

The Easttops should stand up better to dampness than wood combed harps though.

I have a full Chromatic set of black Easttop T008K plus a Low F which I purchased when I decided to take this instrument seriously exactly a year ago this week, and they are all still in tune and I love the tone I get from them.

The coating is a bit rough on the mouth, but I hit mine with emery cloth on both cover plates where my lips touch and that smoothed them right out. As long as you play gently (thank you many times over, bbqbob!) and maintain them clean and dry, they seem like a great investment for a non-pro like me.

@Colonel_Panic: off topic, but I'm curious: Is your username an operating systems pun?

I've had no odd taste, and the covers are fine with me. Decent harp for the $$.

@Garry - Yep! I got that nickname from my Compiler Design professor because I refused to code things in the normal, boring textbook way, so I crashed the kernel a lot :)
