Recently I got a Hohner Golden Melody and was immediately disappointed. It felt light and tinny like a toy, the sound was less than I was expecting, and the protruding reed plate was unbearable on my lips. I can't send it back so I said what the heck, it can't get any worst let me try a few tricks on it. First I got to work on the reed plates and painstakingly sanded them using 600 sandpaper back to the groove that the cover plate sits in then carefully rounded of the edges. Next I got to work on the cover plates reshaping the back where the sharp square edges sits on the comb tapering it off and then sanding all the points that sits on the comb smooth to prevent comb chipping. I then filed slots at the ends of the cover plates to open them up creating a more surround sound effect and lastly I shaped (arched) two 4oz wheel balancing strips centered at the inner back of each cover plate to add a little heft to the feel. It all worked well and now I have a lip friendly, surround sound, professional feeling harp. - not much talent needed just time, patience and care.

Hi Fitz. Yeah, you can post photos. You have to host them somewhere else though. I'm not sure what the best site to do that is right now. It seems more and more of the sites (dropbox, flickr, photobucket) are requiring you have a pay account for that feature.

Show at Hudson River Coffee House

Lol... okay, it looks like you can post from a hosted pic on FB but let me look up the resizing code!

<img src="img_girl.jpg" alt="Girl in a jacket" style="width:500px;height:600px;">

Okay, yeah, if you use FB post it there and then click on it so it enlarges. Right click it and copy the image address and put it in the code above (replace the text between the first quotation marks), then change the name of it (between the second quotation marks).

You can play with the size by changing the numbers. I've got the image skewed a bit. Jeff isn't that tall and I'm not that skinny!

Can people let me know if they see the image... sometimes you have to change the permissions on FB.

I think imgur works for hosting too. It doesn't seem to post in line but it will give a link. Now I need to remember what distracted me from updating the FAQ page and find the link where Grey Owl told me how to fix it.

Nate, I was certain that must be a picture of your band playing "Theme From The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly".

Note: that's an aspect ratio comment.
