Ive been playin about 45 years, but didn't get diligent until 15 years ago--since then I keep re-learning this fact- How much I don't know--How much I can't do--The more I practice and study this becomes stronger-
what keeps me going are realizations of " wow a couple years ago, I couldn't play this piece" but now its just a little run or groove that I do all the time---That keeps me goin
But I have, more than once on blues cruises, told my harp friends " Im throwin my harps in the ocean "after listening to some of the greats' But we all keep plugin
It took me 66 years to learn U never "GET THERE" in anything--Its the getting there that keeps us going Im so full of "S..." but I can still, laugh at my self
When I see this kind of playing it reminds me of an idea for a TV show I had... sort of like Quantum Leap... every time the main character dies whatever it is he is doing he gets reincarnated in a different time and place where he gets to live another life. The main character, having all these lifetimes to develop skills spends a lot of time developing top level skills in different specialties, with most of the shows focus being on learning different music and instrument. The show would bring in different top musicians to play the parts of great musicians in history (or occasionally themselves). I think the main character would probably have a signature harmonica, since that's about as easy an instrument to carry around as you can get and it could fit into the few less musically driven episodes more easily.
Throw in a good lovers lost in time theme where the main character keeps running into different incarnations of his soulmate...
