After learning Lonesome Campfires I'm looking to expand my repetoire and dive into some more challenging and expressive harmonica instrumentals, what are some of your favourites?

"Steady" and "Honky Tonk", by Jerry McCain. I think that Jerry McCain is underappreciated. He's got a real ear for melody.

Thanks Mirco, Steady is amazing. What about non-blues instrumentals? I'm particularly interested in playing jazz or irish style melodies.

I like JJ Milteau's work. He's written a lot of great melodies across the genres. His CD Harmonicas shows a nice variety of styles including Sailor and the Maid (irish influnce and fast) Boogie Mix (very fast Boogie) and Blue hop. Blues Hop is a strong melody and is doable and covers the range of the harp pretty well. I might have the backing track somewhere.

It's worthwhile checking out his music.

Hey @mooncat, thanks for sharing that. That is an amazing piece. Chromatic right? I hadn't heard of Norton Buffalo, what a player.

Just in case you check this thread again, thanks for all your videos. I hugely appreciate you as a player and teacher.

"Christo redentor" usually comes up when this topic is alerted.
I´d suggest a live version with Canned Heat before Charlie M´s (more precise intonation -- player is called Dave Spalding, I think), from an album called, "Songs from the road" or some such.

In his earlier albums, Charlie Musselwhite included a lot of instrumentals....check out "Keep On Rubbin'" if you can find it!
