From personal experience and also a suggestion to my students, get a High G and a Low G and practice all your techiques/bends etc on both until you "own" the techniques.
The result is that these techniques will be a breeze when you use your usual mid range harmonicas. ---------- The Iceman
Great advice Iceman. Practicing the draw bends on a G or even a low F or low D is like lifting weights for your chops. ---------- Tom Halchak Blue Moon Harmonicas
Back in our "formative years", when we used to hang a lot, I was in Joe Filisko's basement where he was developing his tech skills when I whipped out a "High G" Harmonica and impressed him by playing "Whammer Jammer"....kinda sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunk style harmonica, but accurately reproduced. It probably helped that during the 70 - 80's, I used to play it every night (on an "A" harmonica) in my Rock and Roll and then my Top 40 Working Band.
It definitely helps hone one's harmonica technique - on the higher harmonicas, all those bending reference points (on the roof of the mouth) are merely moved forward. ---------- The Iceman
