Happy First of May and here is the "Help Me" as I promised in the subject. But Help Me, so give me a comment on this. This is the only song I sing in our band. All kind of comments are very welcome, Mara Boy Motherson
Harp and band were ok Help Me is kind of a comical story song-- maybe not the best choice for a singer with a heavy( Hungarian maybe ??) accent Why not just translate it to your language and maybe it would sound more natural.
Help me is my "Desert island" song.If i could only take one Blues with me to the afterlife it would be it. But given that i am an Atheist that ain't going to happen Lol. But yeah Maraboy the harp is good but sorry the lyrics just don't work with a heavy hungarian accent.* Look at this way, if most of us tried to sing your native folk songs we wouldn't sound too good either. It's just a fact of life. Brendan Power once jokingly pointed out that everyone not native to the States(albeit they come from English speaking countries)seems to sing the Blues with an assumed American accent.Seen ,heard it many a time.Fair enough though i suppose ,can't imagine a Blues sung with eg. a brummie(Birmingham) accent. *But of course to your audience it probably won't matter. Which is fair enough.
I like the vocals they give the song mood and character, perhaps you could punctuate your vocal with with a more classical voice in the band to give it more texture?
I think the accent is fine. I think what you need to do is memorize the lyrics to the song and not read off the sheet into the microphone. Memorize the lyrics and sing them with emotion. You want that lady to start helping you or your kicking her out, your not reading her a bedtime story!
Vocally you need to project a bit more. Your volume level is a tiny bit low, but that is actually a different issue. There is something that happens to your voice when you project better that makes it sound better.
I think your audio and video are a little out of sync to, but that's easily fixable after the fact.
I think you need to fix your time. The best way to fix your time is to play harp fills, just like Sonny does in the original. You'll discover that the vocal phrasing HAS to be timed correctly or else the harp fills won't work. Adam has a great lesson on this song, in the Store.
My advice: 1) Play harp fills to fix your vocal phrasing. Listen to Sonny for this. 2) Get Adam's lesson and dial in your solo.
Keep it up, dude! It's a good start and you just need to keep working it. Don't be like these guys who think "good enough" is good enough. ---------- Marc Graci YouTube Channel

It is time to thank everyone who has commented on my performance. You do not guess how important those comments are for me. They will certainly help me to improve my performance. Obviously, I must pay attention to the timing of both the song and the harmonica. Practicing is difficult because they do not currently produce good metronomes. In the store they seem to work, but when I use those at home, they start to go immediately slower or faster than my paying ;o) Another thing - my Hungarian pronunciation or accent - is special and I have never heard of it before. I live in the dark side of this big stone = in Finland. So I speak Finnish as my native language. I do write song lyrics in Finnish, but I think that the Finnish language is in no way suitable for blues music. To thank you or punish you for your comments, I will give to you this example of a familiar song I’m singing in Finnish. (this is not a translation but quite another story), mara
