Saw this article just now, and since we've had long discussions about the unfairness of royalty payments to musicians, I wondered what y'all think about it?

Interesting. I wonder, ultimately, if there is enough money in the system... will people sit still in front of an ad on YouTube long enough for YouTube to make enough money to pay the artists. It might have to be some sort of percentage deal. I was watching a chess video the other day. The video was 28 minutes long and had 17 ads. I watched about 5 minutes of it before I gave up in frustration.

Another thing I'd like to see them deal with is fair use. Rick Beato just had a ranting video about one of his videos, which was clearly fair use, getting blocked by the record company.

I actually got a copyright strike once on a tune I wrote and performed. Although I won the appeal I wasn't ever told who had given me the strike and they didn't get a strike for making a false claim.
