I have not heard of this method before. Since suzuki plates all or most of them seem to be the same dimensions, you need a harpmaster type recessed comb. Put the draw plate on the comb on the blow side so the reeds are facing down. Put it on the sandpaper and now the comb holds nice even pressure on the plate. The first time you do the method the edges of the comb have to sand down even to the plate, this happens real fast. Now just use this comb for all future plates. This will work for all other recessed comb type harps if you have a extra comb. Also with this method you are not pressing down on the reeds. Hope I described it so you understandit. probably other people have done this too but I have not heard of it before.

Good idea. I have Hohers one could do the same on. Also if you cut the lip off SP/20s you could you them as 'sanding blocks.

For bow plates I use Andrew Zajacs F-Tool. There is a learning curve you gotta be slooow and carrreful.

Actually you do not need to cut the outer lip of the recessed comb down. Since it is just a thin outer edge, the plastic edge will sand down even to the plate pretty quickly. Then after the first time it is at the right height for all other plates you sand.

I think that you will find that if you use this method on a long slot Special 20,using a special 20 comb, that the one draw reed pad will rest on top of the edge of the comb. So you would have to cut away that portion of the comb. And, while you are cutting, if you cut away each end of the comb lip, then you could use it to flat sand marine band plates also.
