Nice!! I like the High blow bends on Juke. All these years I don't recall anyone using those blow bends on Juke. I'd prefer not so much dirt in the tone though. I like dirt as much as anybody but I prefer a cleaner Juke w/ out so much break-up. Gosh! I gotta stop being so critical. Good show! Thanks for the feedback guys. We really tried to pay tribute to Walter and his creative spirit by not doing the tunes as note for note copies of his material but as spontaneous improvisations. Hopefully that's kept the pieces fresh and not sounding like museum pieces.
RE the dirt in the tone - it really comes into it's own on tracks like Rocker and Roller Coaster where Walter had that distorted edge :)
The Honeyboy amps are great and I can highly recommend them. They have that break up that the fifties amps had and are really well made - they look and sound great :)
Great version Giles. I've got the "For Those Who Need The Blues" cd and can't remember hearing anything finer in Chicago style harp tone. Sure this release will be equally fine.

I really like the tone you are getting ... also, the interplay between guitar and you is very nice...seems to be all the right stuff. keep it up! ---------- The Iceman
Thanks Stokes Bay Slim. On that album it's a Bassman '59 reissue with Bass and Presence on 10 and nothing else and normal volume on about 4 played through the normal channel.
Thanks Iceman - it was great playing with the guitarist Chris Corcoran who is a mainstay on the UK scene and is doing very well performing fully instrumental music - which is a rare thing.
One of the interesting things about doing this project was that I created a playlist to listen to leading up to it of just Walter's instrumentals - so no songs where he sang.
They are incredible pieces of work and really hold your interest. Especially the wide array of moods and sounds he explored. Incredible and inspirational legacy of work he left behind for all of us harp players.
