Another name for the harmonica is the poor man's fiddle so yes, they do sound good together. ---------- Wisdom does not always come with old age. Sometimes old age arrives alone.
I see you're using the XB-40 - a glorious harp for fiddle tunes and acoustic ensemble playing.
I especially like using low harps with fiddle, so I can get *underneath* the fiddle and chug, to sort of alternate between playing rhythm and melody - something I saw Steve Baughman doing on guitar at one of he first sessions I ever attended - that stayed with me!
Being relaxed while playing is essential, as well as knowing your breath techniques and to have a harmonica with great response. This would never be possible on an OOTB harmonica. I would love to come to SPAH Tony, maybe I'll make it this year.
I'm playing on customized XB-40s, wonderful harmonicas.
Low harmonicas are great, although playing on a regular G harp goes really good together with a fiddle. Then you'll have the same range.
