Yesterday, I had a gig in Pacific Beach, near Birdrock. I starting thinking (I had a little time before downbeat), and realized that this was Ted Burke's home turf.
So I called him, and he dropped by and played some tunes with me. This was quite convenient for me, since the band I was supposed to play with was arriving late, and the flute player who was supposed to be there at 6 missed his ride (Uber doesn't always work--user error?)
The management wanted bossa novas and we did a bunch of Latin, but I managed to sneak Work Song in there . . .
Anyway, it was great to meet Ted in the flesh, and I thought y'all might be interested to hear how life unfolded for this relationship--I didn't know Ted at all until I discovered him here, although we have mutual friends--Ted posted about sitting in with Patric Petrie previously, well Dick (the flute player) was in her band for quite some time (and I know Patric well).
I will be at SPAH in August, come up and say hi--I am working the Suzuki booth, there's only two of us, Daron is the tall one with a full head of hair (and a pony tail) (hey Ted, nice mop).

Cool. It seems like there are a ton of you harp guys out on the West Coast. (I know there are a ton of people on the West Coast in general, but even considering that there seems to be a lot of you.)

Very cool! I'd love to meet Ted in person one of these days. I really enjoy the videos of his playing. Would be cool to jam with him sometime.

That's a cool deal. I hope to have some adventures like that.
Re: Work Song, Jolene is just beginning the journey into the chord progression on that. Any tips welcome.
