As many of you know, Blue Moon Harmonicas is honored to have the privilege of acting as an Agent for Sonny Terry Estate LLC. In my conversations with Delores Boyd, Managing Partner of Sonny Terry Estate, LLC we decided that our cooperative venture will be guided by three primary objectives:

1. To honor, enhance and preserve the distinguished career of Sonny Terry.
2. To offer those who have helped preserve and promote Sonny’s music an opportunity to “own a piece of history”.
3. To generate revenue for Sonny Terry Estate LLC.

Tom Ball credits Sonny Terry with being the biggest influence in his harmonica playing. Coincidentally, he was born on Sonny's birthday, October 24th. One of the first harmonica instruction books I bought about 6-7 years ago was “The Sourcebook of Sonny Terry Licks for Harmonica” written by Tom in 1996. Clearly he is someone who has dedicated much of his career to perpetuating Sonny’s legacy. Last week I happened to be in California and I took the opportunity to connect with Tom in his Santa Barbara home. We had a great visit and I was very happy to present Tom with one of Sonny’s harps. Here are a couple of pictures and a short video from our meeting.

There is no player who deserves this more than Tom Ball.

A very cool thing to do, Tom (Halchak)!

I woulda given my eye teeth to have been there.

I had only met Tom once before - at SPAH in Dallas 2012 - and then only in passing. He was incredibly gracious and appreciative. I enjoyed getting to know him. I feel I have a new friend.

Oh, and by the way, my son and I had spent most of the day playing on the beach in Santa Monica prior to hooking up with Tom. Hence the soiled hat and slightly disheveled appearance.
