I've seen someone in the Ebay small ads offering what looks like a Hohner Blues Harp MS 12 set in a padded Hohner case, but can't seem to find this particular set anywhere to check authenticity. Does anyone have info on where this set is available, if at all?

Thanks
Fin.

I don't know of a Hohner 12 harp Blues Harp set being sold, but it would not be unheard of to collect a full set.

If you wait a day or 2, or if the bidding goes higher than you like, I will be putting up a 12 harp set of MS Pro Harps (in a case) on Ebay. I am in the process of tuning, flat sanding, embossing, gapping, reed polishing, etc. and have about 2 more harps to go.

Thanks for the reply and the offer TH, but the only reason I'm contemplating them is that they're on a fixed price of 100 €uros for the whole shebang - which is why I'm a bit suspicious, if the seller has bought all the gear individually. Maybe he just badly needs the money. After all, my wife got a Strohmer guitar for about 1/5 of it's worth the same way. I thought for that price, it'd be worth it to practice my own customising techniques. Apart from that, you probably wouldn't ship to Germany ;).

I have four BH MS, and TBH I prefer my SP20s OOTB. They're better now that I've gapped them, and flat sanded the combs and draw reed plates (and badly embossed 2 of them), but I still can't say for definite that they're better than the SP20s. Maybe once I've rounded off the tines and had a bit of practice embossing I'll fall in love with them...

Ms BH is a decent product ime. the comb is easily damaged if you are working on it though. I do think it's generally the best of the standard MS combs.
100 euro for 12 seems a good enough price. I can't quite recall seeing a 12 harp set, but maybe there was one a few years ago...I feel like I almost remember such s thing but maybe dreaming

@ SuperBee

I can't even say what it is I don't like about the BH MS - possibly because I only have about 3 1/2 months experience on the harp. Before I did the flat sanding and gapping I felt they needed too much air, but now they actually play very similarly to my SP20s in that respect. Maybe the fact that I had to sand off the sharp front edges of the reed plates put me off them, or maybe it's the feel of the flat wooden tines I'm not too keen on. Next time I take one apart, I think I'll try rounding off the tines and see if that makes a difference.

If I do buy that set, I think since they'll cost me about 8 - 9 €uros per harp it would be well worthwhile putting custom combs on at least some of them. With that in mind, does anyone know a good place in Germany for getting custom combs?

One thing to keep in mind with Ebay is that customer satisfaction ratings, although they look like grades, really don't work like grades. One of my first purchases on Ebay I went with someone with a 96% satisfaction rating and they were terrible. I eventually got what I ordered, but it took forever- weeks, it was getting close to the deadline to file disputes.

I've tried to figure out a simple conversion of satisfaction ratings to something that means something outside the world of Ebay ratings, but basically all I have is- Don't buy anything from anyone with less than a 99% satisfaction rating.

(Lol. I just double checked to see, I seemed to recall they broke it down to the hundredth of a percent, but the person I pulled up was just a straight number, 100%, from our own Tom H. at Blue Moon! Looks like they do to the tenth on other sellers.)
