Just an FYI if you use SoundCloud to host your music, it seems that it might be about to die. So you might want to ensure you have a back up, and you might want to start researching new hosting sites. I know I sorta stopped using it a little while ago, but have some stuff on there that I don't really have a local back up of, so I'm downloading it all right now... ---------- YouTube! Soundcloud!

Thanks for the heads up Isaac, I better take a look at my stuff now just in case.
I was using Dropbox for a while as you could embed a neat audio player on the forum which you no longer seem to be able to do. You have to post the public link to the soundfile now which folk can click on to download or alternatively a new tab will pop up on your browser with a basic player.
It would be interesting to know if there are any decent free hosting sites that will offer an embedded audio gizmo.

Thanks, Isaac!
Do y'all have alternatives in mind?
Grey Owl, I'm curious as to what drives your desire to embed a "neat audio player"?
Thanks,
Michelle

Michelle, I was hoping to find something small and functional that didn't take up too much space on the thread so that when I want to post a soundfile it would be discreet. Quicktime used to do one but it was a bit glitchy. I don't even like the Soundcloud default player size and have begun resizing the player to my preference.
I've also started to do this with some Youtube videos as I find when you get a lot of them in a post it slows the loading of the page considerably.

Grey Owl - Try 'box' (box.com). That does have a neat and no frills embedded audio player. I switched to it after having problems with soundcloud.

Glad to see that Box.com works with a nice little player! I'll probably make an account, but am still searching for a site that has just a little bit of that social networking stuff mixed in, like SoundCloud has (or will have had). I've got a bandcamp page somewhere, but I really stopped using that because it was TOO much social networking, lol!
EDIT: So far, the only other alternative I'm leaning toward is audioboom.com. Seems to be the most one for one replacement of SoundCloud, with enough tools, but not too much other stuff. Still doing my research though! ----------   YouTube! Soundcloud!

I have yet to find a volume control for SC unless I visit the site. I've been knocked out of my chair hitting the SC play button and then scrambling for volume control on the computer.

So L. Roger....Please: what exactly did you do with your file on Box to get the song embedded in a simple little player like that. I have files on it (that i'd forgotten about) but that simple elegant player? Tx. d ---------- Facebook

Hi Dennis, I played around a bit as it was not immediately obvious to me. But as it turns out, it's easier than expected. Instead of sharing, generating and copying a link, you select "share" and then "embed widget" and copy that code across. Best R Ps your baby girl did great - proud dad I'm sure!

Isaac - I chose 'box' specifically because it's NOT got the social networking stuff, after some unwanted experiences on soundcloud. I think there are other sites that DO have that stuff though.
Even though I was only posting my beginner-level practice stuff to share with a teacher, I was attracting a growing and increasingly enthusiastic fan base. I'm not ready to become an Internet Phenomenon just yet :)
How about the site that Walter Tore uses? He has and elegant embedded player, and there is also an 'artist page' of some kind too.

Little Roger - if that is your playing, please might I download the file? I like it and I'd like to study it. Also, is that you using the Boogieman?
There are download-link options in box too.
