so,i finally put together a harp with fabulous just plates in D.i had put it off for a bit because i wanted plates from G to maybe Bb,i like JI for chugging on lowish harps,and i have herings in D for just stuff.but i couldn't wait to try it any longer
i put them on a zajac comb.
i ordered them at the same time from ron's. got to me sooner than i would think is possible.
i was going to use hering or sp 20 covers,but at the last minute i put manji covers on.
my quick review: very nice harp with really nice sounding chords.i really like it!

Hmmm... Fab JI plates + Zajac comb + Manji covers... That sounds like a killer setup. The ultimate Suzuki blues machine! Well done.

I've got a couple of those. I cannibalized an old electric tasting promaster for a set of cover plates, but after that I had to get creative, because I am not quite wealthy enough to put any working Suzukis out of commission. I do however have a lot of old Marine Bands and if you drill a single hole between the nail holes they make a good substitute cover.
Andrew's combs are very reasonable and Suzuki reed plates are pretty reasonable. The cover plates and the barrel screws are pricey components.

yes,i like MB covers on lower harps. the vents are nice.
i also used to like to put kay chicago blues covers on marine bands and pre-MS blues harps. pretty funny sleeper.
another cover that sounds pretty good,even though the back is too close to the plate,for a narrow opening,is the modern soul's voice cover. the vents on them make them able to fit ove extra reed plate screws if you use them on a harpmaster or delta frost.

I recently got some Zajac combs. They seem a relatively cheap and straightforward way to improve air tightness and hence performance.

Rockin Ron is tops! There's no way you could get stuff any faster.
I like Manji covers because they are comfortable and have a great sound. And if you have an extra set hanging around, you can use them on any key harp since they don't have the key stamped on them!

I recently put Andrew's combs on all my daily-use Hohner MS harps (Big Rivers). I'm noticing a big difference in performance, especially on the blow bends and overblows, which I can now TB on all my harps. I also like the heft of these instruments now; they feel like serious instruments without the injection moulded combs. Now on to tweak reeds and tuning with Andrew's tool set. Thanks Andrew!

Andrew's combs are great. They're affordable, comfortable and arrived much quciker than expected. He made one for a set of pre-MS Meisterklasse plates I had. It's one of my favorite harps.

i too have pre-MS meisterklasse plates on a zajac comb. i used hering covers on that. NICE harp.

update on the fabulous just plates on zajac comb with manji covers harp: i did a show with it yesterday,and it is even better than i expected. a really great harp!! i have only fifty or so into it,and it performs as well as any hundred dollar harp!!!
