Tactically, I think she split the difference between 'begging' and busking in a bad way. She was too dressed up to get charity and too pushy (and I'd argue a little offensive with the 'I don't want to get no job') and not focussed enough with her performance to draw a lingering crowd that would have been more likely to give her money.
Agree with comments above. She didn't inhabit the busker persona. People didn't believe her; she came across as a ranting street lady with a great voice, but as nacoran says, too well dressed.
Still, it's recalling moments like these that make me feel not so bad when things are a bit slow on the streets.
