I've just started a website for HooDoo Harps. I've really just been doing it on and off when I felt like it, but now I'm going to do it for real. I specialize in Hohner harmonicas, but I can work on any chromatic harp. That's my main thing. I love chromatics and enjoy working on them! I also work on diatonics as many of you already know, but will only work on Hohner diatonics. Anyway HooDooharps.com is up and running and I hope to help more people get to a happy place with there harp. Kevin Baker

I see it fine. Cool.
edit-
Couple little things...
-the layout through me at first. Your header takes up the whole screen, so I didn't immediately realize that there was more text down lower until after I'd tried clicking on the text, thinking they were buttons.
-the page name in my tab in chrome just says 'Home' instead of the site name, and you could use a thumbnail.

Lmbrjak, I just copied HooDooharps.com into the URL bar. He probably won't show up in the search until the search engines crawlers hit his site. (I think there are things you can do to ask them to crawl your site).

Thanks Guys. I'm new to this so it is a work in progress! I mean I'm new to building websites. Not harmonicas! I really don't know what I'm doing trying to put this website together. So If anyone has any helpful ideas on how to make it more user friendly please feel free to point out what you think could be better! Thank You! Kevin Baker

Looking at it in Chrome it looks like you've got a problem with 'When music has to be memorable Chromatic &' the next part of that header line is overlapping on itself making it illegible.

Thank Nate. It doesn't do that on my computer, but I was messing around with the location of the sections?

Yeah, I'm still seeing the overlapped text too. Are you using a GUI interface or using HTML directly?

Thank You Nate and cyclodan. I went to the site using fire fox and sure enough just like you said. So I went to the editing page using fire fox and fixed it. That is the craziest thing. Why would it appear different using different browsers? Anyway on my computer the overlap is gone no matter what browser I use. Is this true for everyone? Thank You for your help!!

Looks good now in Chrome!
The little differences in how things render from browser to browser will drive you crazy. We had a big problem with it here at one point. The different browsers reacted to code for embedding audio files into posts differently. There is a tag for autoplay and it would respond exactly opposite in different browsers, so you would embed an audio track and it would only play when you clicked on it in one browser (how it was supposed to work) but in another browser it would autoplay. If you flipped the tag it would do the opposite to what it was doing before in both browsers. It took a couple weeks of looking to find a bit of code that worked in both browsers for the how to page, and it still gets broken sometimes when browsers update.
edit- The tab is still just saying 'Home' instead of HooDooHarps. If you look at your HTML there is a bit that says, <title>Home</title>
Go in and edit Home to say HooDooHarps (with whatever spacing you want in there) and the tab will say HooDooHarps instead of Home.

Sort of an unfortunate coincidence that Hohner chose the name of its inferior "Hoodoo Blues Harmonicas."
Oh well.

@ mlefree Yeah I agree! I didn't come up with the name. A guy in Atlanta (his name escapes me right now) that saw Little Walter Play in the 50's said, "you really put some kind of Hoo Doo on that thing" in a Email after he played a harp I sent him. This was about 5 years ago and I thought heay that would be a cool name. Part of me thinks it's corny and over the top, but it is just a name. I'm not trying to get work with that name! Ask anyone publicly on this forum or any forum that has had work done by me in the last couple years and I'll bet you can't find one person that doesn't absolutely love the harmonicas I did for them! That's what matters to me! Kevin Baker

As of a couple minutes ago:
looking at your site using google chrome I see a thin solid line between paragraphs 1 and 2 and another at the bottom (below "You can also message me..."). The first solid line overlaps the copy below it (the "Chromatic work includes ..." line).
searching "hoodoo harps" (in quotes) your site comes up fourth on the first results page. But the copy accompanying that hit is about your diatonic work ("Diatonic work includes tuning, reed shaping, gapping ..."). You might want to change that if you're trying to emphasize your work on chroms.

chromaticblues, it's a very cool name, doing homage to Junior Wells. I was sincere in my lament that Hohner attached what would otherwise be a great brand name to a cheesy harmonica, thereby diluting your use of the name for a more deserving product.
I'm sure some Hohner "marketer" type is sitting back grinning for his creativity and business acumen. Your only choice now is to snow them with quality. I say go for it!

Free estimates, that's pretty cool--I charge people just to look at their harps, hard to tell what's wrong until you play 'em, and that means cleaning them, and that means you pay me. Site looks good, good luck! "Free reed, one dollar"

Thanks Michelle! Thanks Gnarly. Yeah most people aren't going to go to the trouble of sending me something if they don't want it worked on. So I just figure the cleaning into the price. Have I been bitten by this practice? YES! 9 times out of 10 it works fine.
