I didn't realise that metal dudes use cupping in order to make their vocals sound more aggressive. This appears to be a huge source of annoyance to sound guys.

Has anyone had a run in with a sound engineer over this?

I haven't had a run in with sound dudes over it, but I've used it on vocals before.

(This was the first time doing it with the band, but it was generally the sound I wanted for it.)

edit: When I embed it it autoplays, so I'll just put the link in.

Thanks Bronze. It wanders a bit but I was really happy with the overall feel we got. I wish we'd revisit this one and try to get it a tracked recording and some drums. It was the very first take with the full band.
